So wonderful to see a fellow trainer.... I don't specialise in any particular type of Pokémon, though I do have favorites within every type that I rely on. I tend to be fond of fast pokémon with a good special attack. Raichu's my best bud, and I am partial to the Abra family, and Goldduck, Vuplix, and Sandshrew and Sandslash. (Quite a list, but out of 150, it's not so bad.)

There was a Guide Pokémon League, and it got demolished?? I may have to try to start up another one...

And I see that you're a cat animagus... What's the story behind that? smiley - blackcat

I have a good friend that I'm trying to get on to the Guide.. She's a Pokémon trainer too....

Okay, first of all, I'm a cat animagus because I wanted to go into the Cathouse, which is(obviously) only for cats. Next, it's 251 now, and it was never 150(you forgot Mew). Third, please do start up a new one. YK ran the other one, but it didn't ever have many members(just me, Twinkle, Psybro, Both-Mewtwos-and-Mew, and YK himself), and after everything got shuffled around, he deleted it.

There's a cathouse?

If I recall, it's 252 now, not 251 (there's a Mew-like new Pokémon obtainable only under special conditions from what I hear), and there were really originally 150 before the advent of Mew - the discovery of the precursor to Mewtwo - which can't be actually caught anyway (it must be received through special occasions, which they never bother advertising before it's too late. Got one you want to trade?)
'Course, I'm not entirely up on the history of Pokémon lore in Japan, since all the Japan fans I know refuse to deal with Pokémon in any aspect.

I still don't have a handle on all the new ones (mostly because there aren't any posters of them), and for having 2 new types they sure have a lot fo new ones that are Normal type. (Not that there's anything bad with ...drat, what's the monkey's name? Anyway, they're interesting, they're just not too useful as battling Pokémon....)

I haven't played in forever because I was on the track of Raiku; I've caught the other two, but Raiku's being a pain in the ^&*. I have a name in mind for him when I catch him, but it's not a very nice one. So I'd given up cathing until I could get him, but trying to catch him was too frustrating. I have a nice one-to-one ratio for hours-to-Pokémon, and if I spent too much time on Raiku that would be thrown off by hours and hours.

So, in your opinion, is it just me or did they dumb down the Abra family in the new editions? Alakazam just doesn't pack the punch it used to....

No, I counted all of them. The new one is called Celebi, it's a grass/psychic type, it's very cute and looks like a fairy, and it's the guardian of the Ilex forest. Oh, and it's the subject of the next movie.

I've heard of it.smiley - biggrin

Yes, they did dumb down the Abra family somewhat. And the monkey's name is Aipom. Most peoples' hours-to-pokemon ratio get way off-balance once they've caught a lot of them. And it's spelled "Raikou", just to let you know. Celebi could be gotten as part of the game in the Japanese Crystal version, but in the American version it's just like Mew, and unfortunately, I haven't got one, and even if I did, I wouldn't trade it for the world. No offense, but would you trade a Mew if your favorite type was Psychic? Like that. Aipom learns a very nice move, Baton Pass, which is not necessarily useful on Aipom, but there's a way to breed it onto Spinarak(which involves several generations, I might add), and since Spinarak's Spiderweb stops opponents from running, and Baton Pass switches pokemon but not effects, this might help you catch Raikou. Just remember that the Legendary Dogs all learn Roar, and try to guard against that, too. Good luck!smiley - smiley

Oh, and yes, there is a Cathouse.

You have a friend who's a pokemon trainer, and hopefully will soon be on here? I sincerely hope that your friend joins, and you can quote me on that.
