Information in h2g2 format.
Hello Community !
Finally I registred as a Researcher for h2g2 ! Wow, I already fell better.
Living in the so-called "age of information" I think it is quit important that everybody is able to contribute his (or her) part of information, rather than leaving the selection of information to somebody else !
Information is the blood stream of our age and we must not allow anybody to spoil it !
I think that the "h2g2 earth ed." has the potential to become the most poweful and important information source since it easily accesible, easily editable and most important it gives the information in a useable form (because the information is written from the point of view of the user).
Although it may seem so, that the entries are a funny but useless presentment of personal impressions this is not totally true ! Consider the following: You are confronted with a new situation and you need to inform yourself fast and efficient. What will you do ? You will ask a friend who is familiar with the problem to help you ! And what will he say ?! Certainly not a users guide like printable advice ! He will tell you what *he* thinks is important ! ("Never, ever walk on the grass !")
That's what I call valuable information !
And second you do know that it is *his* opinion ! Looking for information on the internet people tend to accept any information they get as true, just because it is written down somewhere in the internet ! One always has to bear in mind, that you get opinions or at least filtered information !
And surely everybody can realize that you get impressions and opinions when reading the guide entries !
Sorry, I gut a bit carried away, hope I didn't bore you !
And, yes, I truely feel like one of the starting snowflakes of a blizzard !
