Aren't high school proms supposed to be fun?
Aurora Started conversation Jun 13, 2003
I returned from mine five hours ago, and I'm slightly confused now. The prom was just a glorified disco and the after-prom party was just a glorified booze-up in a barn. The prom was just rather dull, but the party afterwards was actually scary.
There were, I'm certain, only two of us actually sober the whole night (1am until 5am ), so I had to sit there and watch my friends slowly get more inebriated and/or stoned. It was amusing for a while (especially when I pleaded with the dj to play Radiohead's Idiotheque, and it really confused the neds) but I just felt like I should have a clipboard and be writing down psychological observations. I wasn't part of it at all.
One by one, my drunken friends made their way home - I had to walk one of them home (in my strappy shoes which *hurt* )just to make sure he didn't get knocked down. But not before that tall piano player who knew ages ago that I liked him and has never forgiven me for it, got completely legless (and he's 6'5 so that's a lot of leg to lose) and shout at me whatever I said. Gah.
Still, I have lots of pretty photos of the Prom. Maybe if I stare at them for long enough they can replace my actual memory of the do and I can be happy.
*sigh* Sorry. Rant over.

If only! But nobody was drunk at the prom (the bar was closed to everyone except the teachers) and nobody wore a kilt to the after-prom. All the boys claimed to be wearing underwear anyway.

Look at those photos and remember how cool all those people thought they were, how witty they thought they were, and how fantastic they thought they looked.
Then remember it every time you have a drink.

yess see as soon as I see my mates drunk (a lot quicker than I get anywhere near) I stop, I hate seeing them drunk and don't want to embarrass myself.

Most of them I'll never have to see again anyway. I'm not worrying about the Prom any more, since the party I went to last night was so much better. It was a friend's 18th, there were only about twenty people there, lots of candles in the dark and good music playing.

i thought that party was kinda boring - u can't really have a disco thing when there's only two others wanting to dance and i was sick to death of being bitten by midgies
But then i did have rik moaning every five minutes that he wanted to go - he doesn't like parties that much and one involving duncan...not such a good idea ^^;; but then he is really ill today - fever, headache, sore throat, so maybe i'll forgive him for being such a stick in the mud and always dragging me home ^_-

I didn't go to the after party. I'd forgotten my house key so had to get home before my rents went to bed. So I missed the after party. And we didn't care there were only two of us dancing, we just danced anyway And most of my friends boyfriends were being sticks in the mud, one time I've been vaguely happy not to have one, I mean Grant wouldn't dance with Ali so I ended up slow dancing with her...and to be fair, I was trying to get some attention from the guys by sitting with my knees up on the chair (no not flashing! I;d had enough to drink to have loosened up but not that lose) and actually letting the dress neckline sit where it was meant to (ie showing cleavage)...didn't get any attention...apary from when it came to getting the next round in

Em, meet Thalia. Thalia, meet Em.
The party wasn't that boring. After you left, the midgies went in as soon as it got dark, Douglas and Barry turned up with the new Radiohead album and Gregor and Dunc tried to dump Paula in the river. Surely Rick and Dunc have made up by now?
The after-party really wasn't that bad. I was just very tired when I wrote that entry. It all seems hilarious now. The state those boys were in...

Party.....Eh what party was that lol.
Well that wa a mistake a big one at that, but still one I'll learn from and live with for the rest of my life
About the Idioteque, surely you could have chose 2+2+5...its about their level lol.
Nah I really don't want to be reminded about the after prom altho ironically I got a free bottle of vodka from a footie tourney I was doing tonight in the bonnet guild.
I'll be happy for a wee while now.
I'm still concerned at how U got out of the car Suzi U weren't happy at all (According to my dad that is..well duh lol)
U gonna let me know why?
Neway thats the first post in a while from me.

Shocking, Em!
The Beatle's medly sounds fun - why's it always the older songs that go down so well at parties? To be fair, though, the band played Bohemian Like You at our Prom, and it seemed to fit in well.
Timson - how many times? I wasn't unhappy, just tired. I'd just been awake for 22 hours, so I think that's excuse enough. Anyway, I know I said that I'd walk home, but I got a lift back the rest of the way.
I'd been pleading with the DJ for three weeks to play Idiotheque, so that was before I'd heard the new Radiohead album. It's better that they played HTTT stuff at Dunc's party because we were in a more fit state to enjoy it then. Also, my sis is laughing at me because she thinks you're a Radiohead fan too now.
Don't drink all the vodka at once. I'm sure you don't want to look that green again...

Thanks for the hug, Em ^_^
My boyfriend doesn't really like dancing much but he tries to dance with me and he ain't too good at it (although i do give him points for being so sweet and trying ^_-)
And no, he hasn't made up with Dunc - he hasn't spoken to Dunc except for the odd occasional word or two. Although Dunc's even taken to inspiring my dad to want to punch him - remember when rik hid in the graveyard? that night dunc was going on and on to dad about how running off was just typical of rik and all this crap...
But anyway...

Thalia's boyfriend refused, point blank, to wear a kilt to the Prom.
Dunc didn't stay that night, did he? My whole memory of that night is a bit hazy. 3am in a graveyard, and me and Hez are pretending to be Russians in a spy movie.

Thalia Posted Jun 20, 2003
Course he refused to wear a kilt - for one thing he's english and for another...he refuses to believe they're anything other than skirts ^^;; But it's not like he was the only one ^_-
Nah, he didn't stay that night - he hasn't stayed over in months.

Well, you seem to have cured him of his strange idea that dancing was just for girls, so maybe you can work on the kilt phobia. Who knows, he might even go to the next band Ceilidh.
It's a shame you couldn't make it to the solstice party - the garden looked so pretty with all the candles and fairy lights. On the other hand, the conservatory was full of drunk fifty-somethings doing bizarre dances to Don Maclean and Radiohead (really!). We had a nice early night at 4am.

Just a slight thought with the band Ceilidh btw...
You know this year I organised it more or less single handedly and unless the "new batch" of Senior band prisioners get their act together then there won't be another Band Ceilidh which would be a pain in the arse coz the last two have been gr8!!! :D.
Folk'll be entering their important exam years so I'll be quite surprised If Deborah and ne of the lot that organised the 60's/70's night do nething about it...I just felt by the end of it all (speaking in our terms) that there was a big lack of enthusiasm for it.
NBV Gaelforce (or Analfarce)
Now To the complaints bit.
Dancing isn't for girls as U see almost equal amounts of guys getting up at Ceilidhs (With a drink or two inside of them)
Now Heather I'm sure a woman stature (and persistance) Will have no trouble at all in getting that guy of yours up to dance the night away! I'll never doubt you thats one thing for sure .
Last night Thurs was quite eventful as I had a small (45 person) party at my house.
Now Suzanne b4 ne complaints come in it was an open house ne1 I knew was invited.
But neway it went down well no smashed glasses etc etc etc. The only bad thing was the huge clean up operation that took place today 9:50 -1:30 Pm Involving a pressure washer aswell
Neway Ciao for now
