Last 3 weeks

Does anyone know of a job involving work with animals of some kind that pays about £100 or more pounds a week, in the south west of england, UK that requires people in three weeks time?

I know it's a lot to ask, but I just want to get out of the office for good.

Oh well, I suppose I'd better right, er write what I was going to.

My friend Liz P if you ever read this (I''m only typing it here because I know you never will) why haven't you called me back? I think text messaging on mobiles is evil. It allows you to give less of yourself to the person you are communicating with, in that even less than normal can you tell what the person at the other end is thinking (like you can when you can hear their voice) and they can avoid talking to you at all by deleting your text message and not replying.

It's a new life it's a new day

I saw the big brother program on channel 4 last night and it made me think, long and hard. I'm glad I've spent the last ten years working in offices, learning my way round office politics and generally growing up a lot. Now though I've decided to put the last decade behind me and start afresh. I've packed in my job (I've got 4 weeks notice left to run) and I'm gonna do things that make me happy.

Life is too short to spend it making other people happy or worrying too muxh about other people's opinion of you. Be yourself and spend time finding out who this person is so that you can be confident that when you meet other people the real you comes across.

If you can't sit in a room by yourself it's very unlikely that anyone else is gonig to want to be there. In other words, until you are happy with yourself, noone else is going to be happy with you. People, particularly women, (generalisations aside) can sense how you feel underneath the front and if you're putting it on, they can tell. Even if the reaction is prompted by subconsious cues, the reaction is there.

In conclusion I would like to jot down some observations I've made over the years:-

Some men try too hard with women and make themselves look desperate - it's the power over intercourse that women hold that gives them the edge (unless you are in an open, honest, almost unheard of relationship. Do I sound bitter?)

Women generally have to go into a huge debate over the simplest things. Why can't they get to the point. I know men generally require less words to say the same things (in all same sex groups) but women have this habit of coming up to you and then pre-emting what they are going to ask you with a huge explanation of why they want whatever it is they want. e.g. "My friend 'insert name here' was going to be going to the 'insert activity here' and I was wondering, if it isn't too much trouble, and it won't put you out, and only if you want to do it not because I'm asking you and putting you under pressure and you feel it won't put a strain on our relationship and as long as it doesn't encroach on your time, and it won't make you late for work in the morning or upset the rotation of the earth on its axis, DO YOU THINK YOU COULD GIVE ME A LIFT TO THE STATION?"

CAPS bit is what they could have said quite plainly ten minutes ago!

Perhaps women find us as enfuriating, because we don't give them enough information and that leaves them to wonder what's on our mind at any time. If we were all the same it would be too easy. Everyone would get on far too well. Marriages would only end in the event of the 'till death do us part' bit and the very fabric of society would probably fall apart. Then again everyone might actually be happy!

Some more thoughts to come as I think them.

Animal lover

Could have meant quite a number of things that title I suppose...
That I'm an animal lover, voracious, pasionate, physical. I may be so, but that isn't what I meant. It could be that I have sex with animals but that's only legal in a few states in southern America and a few backward (pun intended) countries around the world. So no, I don't have an 'animal lover'. In fact I was aluding to the fact that I love animals. Mammals are my favourites and birds, reptiles and insects are an area that I'm not totally confident with as it's difficult to communicate with them and they usually have a nasty bite. I want to work with animals if possible as I've decided the office life is not what I want to do for the rest of my life.

Leaving school I was stuck with a very limited choice of options. My careers advisor (a geography teacher who doubled up as a C.A.) told me that my interests (computer and animals) limited my options to the following:-

1) Vetinary nurse
2) Computer trainee

Option 1 didn't appeal because I could get squeamish having to stitch animals up and the C.A. told me that I would struggle to get anywhere in that business because generally Vetinary nurses tend to be girls.

Option 2 was the only one left to me as a nieve school leaver with no life experience and no solid ideas about what I wanted to do with my life or what career I might be interested in. I had two entrance forms one for a college / training center in Bristol (south west england) and another in Swindon (SWE too). I applied to the first establishment and was offered a place immediately because they recieve money from the government for taking on students but turned them down because I wanted to wait to see my exam results at the end of the summer before making such a life changing decision. I applied to the other place when I did recieve my results (and had made the decision not to take further education, further...) got a place, trained and passed my certification, got a work experience oppourtunity that turned into a full time job and I never looked back until 10 years later, now!

I want to get out of the rat race and get something that, won't pay as well deffinately, but will allow me to do the things that I wanted to all those years ago. Anyone need a willing helper to work with animals?

How, what, where can we all go to lead the life that we want to?

What has to happen to make the world stop in it's tracks and realise that everyone is miserable? I think there is a quiet revolution going on and soon, maybe not today , maybe not tomorrow but soon, the silent majority will stand up, be counted and we'll all know that we're in the same boat.

Today, tomorrow, the rest of my life

Today I am not at work because I am demotivated, I get ill at the thought of going into the office and I want to get out of the rat race before it's too late. I'm gonna write the book I've been dreaming of ideas for, get a job that makes me happy/ier and generally make the life changing decisions that I've put off because the money is good where I work at the moment. Sounds a bit like a set of new year resolutions, they are my six monthly revisions of the ones I made and didn't do anything about on December 31st.
