Welcome to the Area
Well, when we first got here, we saw that it would be a long and difficult trip ahead of us, and what did we do? We had a beer. We tried to talk to women. We tried our hand at sports. We tried some chemicals. All we've done is try to get away. To get out of our responsibility and make believe that we're real people carrying out the business for which we were intended.
So cut it out, damn it. Stop twiddling your thumbs thinking about where to have lunch and what car you would like. Are you a moral person? Do you think that makes you a good person? Are you always polite and considerate? Does that make any difference? Have you ever dug a huge hole just because you felt like it, and stopped worrying about how your lawn would look afterwards? Have you ever tried to drink a glass of salt water for no reason? How do you carry on like this day after day?
The best way is to get rid of it all. Can you live on five dollars a day? How about $1? And for how long? These are good things to know. Especially if you have $1000 in the bank and don't feel like working anymore.
There's a hot/cold summer approaching, so what are you going to make of it? You'll probably sit and wallow like a flounder in your air-conditioned living room, but maybe, just maybe, you'll learn to fly...

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
