You shouted for an angel????
Kes Posted Jul 31, 2000
Yes. Our luck with timing is really out at the moment. No, I'm not on ICQ - is it fairly easy to arrange? Maybe I can get myself organised!
I'm so glad you liked the verse. I'd heard the Britten music a couple of times (don't actually like it that much), but this was the first time I'd had a libretto to read from. It really hit the target.
Another RW meeting calls - talk to you soon.

CU soon I hope

Kes Posted Jul 31, 2000
Thanks. I'll take a look at icq.
Sounds like a great job - it'd be alright if it wasn't for the work!
BTW, as you liked my latest "find" for you, perhaps you'd care to take a look at a different modern music item - one I've submitted for review. It's a piece on Ravel id A400645 (or via my homepage, obviously). Let me know what you think.

two things...
1. read your article on Ravel, really liked it... am actually just off to read your other entries. the submission thing has recently changed, and i think you've submitted it, but if you havent you really should do...
2. soon, in the not too distant future, i'm gonna have a formal dinner/dance... will i have the pleasure of seeing your face around (I'll post a proper invite once i've got it ready...)

Kes Posted Jul 31, 2000
Thanks. Yes, I submitted it soon after the rules changed. I was trying to find a style that would give readers a "nudge" to try some of the music - a sort of added value of something to consider while listening to a piece. I think it's starting to come together.
The other (older) entries were to get me into writing. You'll note the most recent item (the project) - I thought I'd give a try to a larger exercise than a single item, and get some other contributors to join in, so I posted that project "application" to the h2g2 Uni.. Should be fun. Haven't heard back from them yet - they have a problem with the e-mail link on their Admissions page.
Formal dinner\dance? Terrific. I'll chase the moths out of my dinner jacket.
Just going to do the rounds and catch up on postings.

mmm.... i dont know how you go about a multi-researcher entry.... you could ask one of the editors, or one of the more experienced writers, like DD...
and you'd better get your DJ out... I'm not having it smelling of mothballs!!!

Kes Posted Jul 31, 2000
Yes - it should be interesting. If it was easy, it wouldn't be so much fun.
*delves into depths of wardrobe, hurling out nondescript items of clothing*
I know it's in here somewhere! Ah! That's a lucky find - flares will come back into fashion at some point ...
*continues searching*

*a muffled cry of "Sweet dreams, Ange" emerges from the depths of the wardrobe. The search for a bow tie continues*

Fashion Cat Posted Aug 2, 2000
hows the bow-tie hunt going? you wont need it for a while yet though, I'm still planting the plants in the gardens and making sure the fountain works and other things....
but when it is done... i hope it'll look good....

Kes Posted Aug 2, 2000
Well, I found a pre-knotted bow tie that went with the flares - so that's out on two counts. Then I found a real one and spent nearly an hour trying to tie it. The result looked more like a squashed moth than a bow. So it's just as well I've got time to practice. (Wonder how it looks with an anorak?)
If you need help with quality testing the champagne, nothing's too much trouble, you know. Talking of which, I think I'll grab a quick glass before the rest of the Island wakes up ...
You shouted for an angel????
Fashion Cat Posted Aug 2, 2000
LOL! I have 3 pages to read through... omigod!
and I can tie bowties.... this is not a problem, and quality testing is a must, esepcially of the champagne!

Kes Posted Aug 2, 2000
OK. It's a deal, I'll come over early on the day and test the bubbly; you tie my bow tie. That's fair isn't it? What do you get out of it? I'm working on that.

Fashion Cat Posted Aug 2, 2000
i'll get pleasant company while sampling the champagne...
no, i'm really gonna make a go of this, get a good front page with pics, a guest list, staff (possily, not too sure), get a table setting, favours... the whole shebang.. I'm really looking forward to it! i mean my party was a huge success, and that took me about 10 mins... hopefully with me swpending more time and effort on this, it'll be even better (and i'm ot quite sure how I can beat most busiest forum for about a week!!!) I am modest usually, sorry...
ah well, back to RL

Kes Posted Aug 2, 2000
Yeah! Menu, site map, marquee for the band, valet parking. Footmen, a butler to buttle all over the place...
After dinner speeches, after dinner mints, after dinner dance (with dance cards for the ladies)
Right now, though, I've got to take off my DJ, put on my anorak, and head for the Island .. but I'll keep listening.

Quite a few went down with the symptoms. MK and God dropped heavy hints, nobody picked them up, so after a while i "remembered" about the pills.
Your RW work is keeping you away! Must be a real drag. (I sympathise - I know what it's like because I get "cut off" at weekends)
Do take a look round the island. It's turning into a ham actors' paradise - h2g2's very own soap opera ...
(Now there's a thought for a future project ...)
I must confess - I picked a really dim, dull character because I thought it would be an easy one to sustain, but it's turning out to be hell to keep in character - some of the others are taking full advantage of having something to "tease" - I guess I should have thought of that sooner!
Don't care if you're "on the other side", as 'twere, take a look, and feel free to comment on the style.
Because I'm working the "night shift" I often run out of players to interact with, so I'm adding narrative that's deliberately "purple" to contrast with the character's words. MK keeps at it, and has ROFL'ed a couple of times, so it can't be all bad.
...and if I live into next week, I shall need all the stamp jokes you can find! I'm running out!

Fashion Cat Posted Aug 4, 2000
LOL! ok. I will...
this is just a quick drop in... i've gotta dash in 2 mins to get to wo*k... its so depressing. and Zax has buggered off again. its really getting to me that he's probably finally left. i got really close to him and hes just putting up barriers and i hate it, and its all because of some stupid stupid h2g2 politics.... i really hate it.
ok. sorry that became a bit of a rant didnt it.... *sigh* *hugs* sorry, but i needed one
talk soon.....
You shouted for an angel????
Kes Posted Aug 4, 2000
*Hugs and sympathy*
I'm really sorry. You can sound off at me, and borrow a shoulder or a hanky any time you like. Even if the right words escape me, I can listen. So sorry.
As a favour to me, can you come back to the FandF where you were just before this posting, and "witness" what I've done there. It's really trivial, and it's only the Island game - which puts it at about 0.0002% importance compared to real things, but .. hell - you either die laughing or crying. When you feel like it - have a small laugh in the F and F at my expense.
Here - take my best hanky - I'll be thinking of you.

*trundles off to the F&F to see what her guardee is up to...*
thanks for the handkie btw... *sniff*
