I hate it when I hear about a book all the time, but I know purchasing it is a total waste of cash. I had the same with Harry Potter. I read your article and now I know just enough, without having to read any of the actual drivel.

Oh! Sorry for not replying earlier. Seem to have missed this somehow.
Glad I was able to help. I do seem to have taken the bullet for the entirity of h2g2, which is slightly embarrassing. But I had a lot of fun chasing down links and reading other people's very catty reviews and such so I feel quite compensated. 
And it still doesn't irritate me as much as Bridget Jones' Diary did, when that was the Big Deal.
