An Incredible Journey
I have recently returned to England from a six week holiday in North America. I was the guest of my dear brother-in-law; my mentor and my driver throughout an adventure that took me to more places in Canada and The United States of America than have been seen by most natives of either of those two countries.
We covered 14,450 kilometres in 39 days, leaving time for me to enjoy the company of many dear friends and family members, who threw a great party in my honour before I caught the plane home.
Two details then;
in Las Vegas I won 11 $ : 80 cents, then got out of town fast.....they are still looking for me!
In Yellowstone Park my camera jammed as a bear strolled past our car. We did two U-turns and rejoined the queue of cars, all now slowing to photograph the fine furry beast. Eventually I got my shot in, and now he sits there on my desktop snarling proudly.
I am coming up to my 75th birthday, and my bro-in-law is nearing his 80th, so it was probably our last fling.
Now all is calm again. Nothing more exciting than a poem or two on h2g2, eh?
My name is Frank. Hope you enjoy my company folks.
Now here's a thing. I last used this board in March 2009, and it occurs to me that there have been some changes made since I was last "in town".
For instance, there used to be a number of "Nonsense Rhyme" poety pages to which a number of friends and myself use to contribute. Now I can find no trace of these in the archives, or find any of my former friends or contacts, Very strange, I call it.
And another thing, (Don't I go on?) and another thing, Why can I no longer access the Radio 4 "Mornington Crescent" message board? many of those using that board use to come here after midnight closedown of that board to continue with their chatting...some sort of blogging or at least telling friends what they had been doing, and others writing poems or nonsense rhymes. It was all great fun, and I am at a loss as to know why things are no longer as they used to be,
Maybe it's Government cuts....nah! that can't be it. Anybody got any ideas about this problem. I will leave it with you folks. I must go and make a cup of tea.
