Who the Hell is SeaMerlin?

My real name is Steve, I'm (at time of writing) 52 years old. I spent 14 years in the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy. The navy taught me avionic engineering and navigation. I'm immensely grateful. After the Falklands, I returned to the mean streets of Cornwall where a somnolent (female) driver almost accomplished what the Argentinians couldn't. After three years and three operations, the Navys surgeons surrendered my future to civvy street. That was 1989. I found myself a 32 year old retired person, slightly disabled. The nice ladys insurance company paid for my boat; so I set off in search of a different kind of life. That's what the book is about; in as much as it's really about anything. Some of it is so personal as to border on the incoherent.

So that's me; more or less. No more interesting or deserving than anyone, just sufficiently conceited to commit my life to prose. I hope you read and, what's more important, enjoy it. If you do; let me know (read it, that is. You can let me know whether you enjoy it or not).

By the way; I chose the name Merlin 'cos that's the name of a historic yacht. The first one the Navy let me play with. It previously belonged to Adolph Hitler and was part of the war reparations that Germany paid to Great Britain. It was beautiful.
