You mean it was gone? (posting 16) Gone as in not showing for the same reason as h2g2 being slow earlier today, or gone as in having been yikesed?
I know I had trouble until just a few minutes ago seeing the second page of a conversation - I could see that people had been posting in it today, but I could only get the first page, even though there was a link to postings 21-40...

It was marked for moderation but half an hour later it was back. It could have been pending alll weekend for all I know.

What a pity - that probably means the yikeser is watching me too now...
*re-reads her posting no.16*
I don't quite understand why that was yikesed - but then, I didn't even recieve any moderation e-mail

This is getting curiouser and curiouser!
I wonder if the reference to testing caused the temporary yikesing? Which seems a bit daft as it would very odd indeed if a website like this didn't have things in development.
Someone somewhere is getting paranoid!

Oh Titania, please don't join the conspiracy theorists. I bet it was pulled while it was decided whether or not it would make people go searching for stuff that they'd rather not have found. And I bet it was found by an Italic using the search facility with the words 'BBCi Testers' which, you'll notice, comes up 20th on the list.

I'm not into conspiracies, never been very paranoid - I prefer to believe everyone is a nice person until proven differently and be disappointed, rather than suspecting everyone all the time...
As for maybe encouraging people to go looking for things they shouldn't I think that those kind of people are already out there looking for them as hard as they can - and most sites will have sections or pages 'under construction'

Hi Titania,
I'm sorry to find you concerned! Don't worry, the two postings by SEF on the Hub were taken down by me. I read most of the postings to the Hub, because I'm subscribed to the vast majority of the pages, and of course, I respond to all feedback and questions there.
Just so that everyone understands how this works, Mina and the h2g2 Team only look after moderated posts on h2g2. I look after the Hub, and the Editors of the other DNA sites look after their own moderation referrals.
If a lurker was targetting an individual with malicious intent they wouldn't get very far, since all complaints are reviewed by the moderators and Editors and unjustified complaints do not result in the removal of the posting.
I hope this helps to explain who removed the posting in this instance and reassures you that no one is being deliberately stalked. This is a happy place after all.

I think you're right there, T. Some people just have to do that sort of thing. They're driven.
Post 26 of the ww2 thread sheds some light on this matter. Not only do we know that I wasn't the yikeser but we now know who was.

Thanks for explaining, Peta!
What we still don't know is who yikesed the posting in the conversation I had with the researcher on the researcher's user page, which is the yikesing that worried me in the first place rather than the ww2

I agree, this website is a happy place, I have been on a few others that I am very happy to never visit again.
But because it is a happy and friendly place, when some one is unpleasant, or you feel that they are, it can leave a nasty taste in the mouth.
Which is why I firstly assume that if I find a posting to be apparently rude or sarcastic that it has been written in haste or that the written word doesn't read how the poster would have spoken it.
Then secondly, if the tone of thread continues in that vain, I simply avoid it. Perhaps that smacks of away, but there is enough nasty stuff IRL to put up with it IVL.

Hi Titania & Caerwyn!
I can't help you with the other yikesing, sorry, I don't have the information. It could just be a co-incidental, rather than someone with evil intent though. As I say, it'd be really hard for someone to get stuff taken down unless there was a logical reason for the removal, so someone deliberately trying to be annoying wouldn't get very far and we would be aware of their many yikesings, so I think that's highly unlikely to be the case.
It's probably just fluke that they happened at the same time, these things happen.
