I'm Phoenix, one of the ACEs here on H2G2.com. I saw that you were new here, so I thought I'd stop by and make sure you know we're glad you're here.

Looks like things are going pretty well setting up your Researcher Page, but since you work with computers I guess that's not surprising. smiley - winkeye

If you need any help finding anything, on the site or in the books, please feel free to ask. In the meantime, you might want to check out the following pages for more information on the site ......

Mostly Harmless

Greetings Phoenix,

Thank you for the welcome and yes I do have a question. How do you get the music to play on your page? Where do you get the music? And can I just take a CD and make my own wav file to use?

Thanks

Mostly.

The command I used in my Researcher Page to get the music is ...

Replace the 'www.yourURL.com/yourmusic.mid' bit with the correct URL for your music file. You'll have to store it somewhere other than H2G2. I use my geocities account to store my music and pictures.

I found the tune on the internet. I think I may have been directed to the site by a fellow Researcher. If you'd like me to send you the file, just let me know. I see that your email address is on your Researcher Page, but since the file is sorta large I don't want to sent it until you give the go ahead.

You can 'rip' .wav files from CDs to use in this way. However, when you 'rip' them from the CD they tend to be very, very large and due to this it would be difficult to use for this purpose. The smallest song that I've gotten off a CD took up 18Mb, and nobody will wait that long just to hear a tune on the page. It's much easier with smaller sound files. smiley - winkeye
