Planet Thanet and all that!

Hi,
Been meaning to pop round to your PS, only to find that you were an inhabitant of Planet Thanet, or Thorleyshire,as I believe it is now euphamistically called by some.
Ex-Ramsgate myself, as of 1985/6 (?) and now in the Smoke.
Lived there circa '64 to the above. Not a regular in Margate, although I helped at the Quarter-Deck, Zion Place, Margate.
Great to meet someone from the same neck of the woods...

Speak soon

I used to rehearse in the Quarterdeck in the early 90's! I think the band was called 'Growler', at the singer's suggestion, which impressed none of us. We changed it to Paisley Chainsaw then split up.

This message brough to you by Thorley Taverns. They've taken Thanet, next stop - The World.

I don't think so... Few escape the pull of smiley - mars Planet Thanet... We are a rare breed indeed.

I must admit spent most of my time in Ramsgate with visits to Broadstairs (relatives still there) Cliftonville and Birchington. Skirted around Margate except for occasional visits to the Ship for gigs etc.

Quarterdeck was mainly for Duke of Edinburgh,

When in Fannit I'm usually in Westgate (the folks) or Broadstairs (my mates) with the occasional trip to the Head Shop (Arlington Arcade, under the tower block). I tend to say Margate as people have heard of it!

I used to love the Ship. Played (and saw) some fantastic gigs there, and it had such a superb location. Just goes to show what an ignorant landlady can do to a good pub (but that's a long story, and I'm not terribly objective, so I shan't relate it here).
