If you've got something to say Roy, spit it out. For some reason you keep posting 'Oh dear' after posts you presumably think are in some way connected to SWL. Well say what you mean. I don't like SWL because of much of what he posts is veiled sexism and racism. I find him calculating and manipulative. You presumably think otherwise, fair enough. We all have different viewpoints on people and things, often due to our different real life experiences. So have the balls to come to my space or post here what the problem is. I've met SWL's sort before in real life, and I shall contiue to challenge him. If you want to carry on posting 'Oh dear' fair enough, it means absolutely nothing to me unless you explain what you mean.

It's the inevitability that gets on my nerves. If you've a problem with SWL (I can see why you feel the way you feel even though I don't agree with you) I don't see how you're achieving anything by bringing it up in every thread he's posting in.
I unsubbed from The Forum because the relentless repetition was getting on my nerves and I don't want to have to keep unsubbing from threads elsewhere on h2g2.
I've no argument with you, I'm just irritated.

Okay I appreciate you replying honestly to me. I'm glad you've no argument with me because I've always felt very fond of you and love your humour and cheekiness.
I do have a particular problem with SWL and try hard to ignore him. I'll try harder in future.

'love your humour and cheekiness'
It's all a sham you know! I keep The Little Book Of Smutty Quippery and a magnifying glass in my sock (it's a *very* little book, but has very small writing to make up for it).

Yes someone could write a post modern children's novel about it called,
'A p*******************a through the looking glass'
Now have I cheated the censors this time, I wonder?

Hey Roymondo can I say from my point of view, well done for starting off all the recent threads concerning sexuality and UK legislation. I don't know if you have mixed feelings about it but I don't, having experienced so much real life prejudice. I'm no spring chicken and I still haven't talked to my parents about it. The kind of nasty prejudice that religion has engendered against gays has gone on for hundereds and hundreds of years. And still it goes on. It's great seeing SoRB trying to confront them with his intelligence and rationality. And don't they just squeal. As do others. Crikey this is just cyperspace, you'd think the Christians were being fed to the lions.
Anyway as far as I'm concerned, keep getting angry about it. I certainly do, and not just for myself but for others as well.

The 'Theist' thread was just a bit of rant that's taken on something of a life of its own! It's made for very good reading though...
I've stayed out of it because I've been getting a bit evangelically atheist of late (for which I blame Richard Dawkins!) and don't want to sound like a broken record.

Ooh yeah: thanks for chipping in! Do you know what really gets me? We're still breeding theists. I mean, BEG seems a nice, intelligent girl, so I was somewhat taken aback to find out she's a theist. I just don't get how people can take the bible in any way seriously.

Hey Roy sorry you were so upset by what happened yesterday. So am I, and I'm getting pretty fed up with this place lately but probably for different reasons to you.
You are well aware of my particular problem with a certain researcher. And when I read in detail what he'd actually posted, including the link I got very angry indeed. Partly I think because I'd been so upset by the Newsnight item I'd watched and could see how easily a simplistic analysis could be used for certain agendas. I find it hard to believe his post wasn't deliberate shit stirring. But there you go maybe I'm just getting paranoid.
Because I was so angry and upset I went to blicky's space and left a message about it, (not something I usually do) because I wanted some clear minded people to come in and challenge it. I actually really enjoy most of blicky's posts, for their intelligence, even if I don't agree with everything he says.
And I don't have your feelings about the forum. It sometimes gets a bit much I know, but I also enjoy a bit of intellectual debate.
Anyway I could rattle on here for hours about reasons and excuses for my, 'from the heart' irritation. I just wanted to contact you, because I felt I sort of owed to you.

I think you know that my problem isn't really with you. To pop up in a conversation and bring up the racism thing again is *not* the action of a clear headed man.
I can't be bothered with it.
Roy.

We'll have once again to agree to differ then Roy/Ron, because I think post 1 by *** was really racist, and I do find blicky really clear headed about it.
I think it's really important to challenge this guff. I've suffered enough in my own life at the hands of similar attitudes from people in relation to homophobia. I can be bothered with it.
Its the ignorance/ or calculating shit stirring I can't stand.

Here's hoping you haven't unsubbed from this!
I doubt we'll ever agree about SWL (unless something has happened while I wasn't looking!) but it's good to see you in threads I'm in again. Surprisingly I've found Blickybadger saying much that I agree with of late too so I no longer unsub at the first sign of a BB post!
I don't know what things are like in the 'your opinion means nothing without a link' place but in Ask I think I've spotted SWL, BB and yourself crossing swords without the old bull being dragged up. This is good.
Life's too bloody short for umbradge, and this site can be far too much fun to allow oneself to get bogged down in it.
I guess I'm trying to say 'Allo again, no hard feelings.'

Hey hallo again you too! I was away from the site over the summer and since returning I'm determined not to fall back into that boring old pattern again. But I've got to watch myself as I know I have this mischevous little in me which likes to play with fire. So you have my permission to immediately jump on me should I show worrying signs of backsliding.
I do really basically agree with you about 'life being too short etc'
see you around the lovely hootoo

'And Vicky if something seems weird to you that's no reason for it to be weird to someone like me. As I have explained earlier. Continuing to believe in stuff written about in ancient texts that contradicts all the laws of physics and biology in a society that has had the benefit of 200 odd years of science and technology, borders on psychosis in my opinion.'
My god, if I were a woman I'd go lesbian just to thank you for that. Superb.

Hey Roy. The TGD thread really can get a bit much at times. WG earlier on, on that thread posted a lot of bealocks about knocking people down and breaking their arms. I don't know if you saw that. He seems to think he's some kind of judo black belt. This 'groupie' thing he keeps on about towards me came from some christian or other. I've forgotten. I'm going to do my best to ignore this utter prat from now on. He's fairly stupid mostly in any case. And this obsession he seems to have about 'bestiality' I find really weird and quite sick.
I'm sick of that clucking thread, and that's sad because there are some great people on it a lot of the time like Talesin, Gif, and yourself; Anhaga posts now and then as does blicky. But its not nice for me the way WG behaves.
I don't quite know what I'm saying to you except it's not nice.
I don't want to unsub cos of the good people. And there's a lot that's interesting. I'll see.

I miss most of what WG says, not because of the content (which I'm blissfully unaware of!) but because I can't really be bothered with the call-and-response post dissection posts. Some of the issues being raised are interesting, including the bestiality bit, which really had me thinking about my own perspective, so I'll be sticking around for those broader bits and hope you do too.
I already know all I want to know about Christianity (more than I want to know actually - that crap's occupying valuable braincells!) and certainly don't want to read people throwing Bible passages at each other: complete arse is complete arse regardless of who's argument its backing up.
I think the best thing to do with WG is ignore him/her/it. They're a theist and we ain't gonna' change that but there are others with the patience to take him on. I reckon they'll get bored soon too though!
Still, regardless of WG's prescence the thread's become much less unpleasant over the last few days. It's almost as if a force for evil has been missing.
What's with this 'Oh dear'?
Effers;England. Posted Oct 31, 2007
Well it be less unpleasant from your perspective. But from mine it feels worse because of what WGs coming out with, in context with stuff I've read from him in the past.
Anyway I'll try to deal with it.
And basically the stuff I regularly read from WG, Mikey and Della only coinfirm my RL experiences of theists. It never fails to amaze me how little instinctive and natural good feelings 'confirmed theists' seem capable of. I've certainly had real life really nasty experiences from these people in the past. Although I can get really angry and nasty sometimes, it quickly blows over, and the loving feelings return.
I am genuinely quite freaked out by theist's way of relating to other human beings a lot of the time, even if I don't let on.
To think I had all that problem with SWL in the past. He still annoys me frequently, but compared to some others that upset me sometimes here lately, he seems pretty much a pussy cat. But Shhhhh, don't tell him I said so.

Alas I just posted a direct response to WG that wasn't just a flippant little aside. I knew I should have stayed well clear. Never mind.
He does seem to be little more than a bile-fuelled, wilfully ignorant, very un-Christian piece of work. Hmmm, that sounds rather familiar...
Fear not, I won't tell SWL!
