I think they'll be concerned about bad publicity (they take corporate responsibility quite seriously) so I'm quite confident, but you never know.

smiley - ok Roymondo! and smiley - goodluck

Being a teetotaller I can't join the boycott, but maybe I have to reduce my use of smiley - stout...?

Well done Roy and expect at the very least a very cordial letter apologizing for the offense. smiley - cheers

Maybe a cordial email: they haven't got my address!

If I don't hear anything by tomorrow I'll give 'em a bell to make sure they got it.

I feel a little guilty for not being more of an activist...

I've been boycotting a huge company for years now. It's my personal boykott, I know it wouldn't bother them if they knew, but still, I do it.

This is the first bit of activism I've done (apart from the frightfully trivial Sainsbury's thing). I recommend it!

I did take part in a boycott of Tasmanian goods some years ago, before Tasmania reformed its medieval laws on homosexuality. That boycott was a real struggle for me.

(What does Tasmania produce? smiley - ale and smiley - choc.)

I just rang Diageo and, as is the way with companies like this, the Corporate Citizenship email address doesn't go to Corporate Citizenship: it goes somewhere else then gets passed on if necessary.

They're going to have a look for it when the lady that deals with such things gets back.

I hope they don't take too long for I am missing the Guinness.

Not exactly Guinness, but what showed me the way into Really Dark Beer some thirty years ago or so. They obviously come as vintage porter nowadays...

I am quite partial to a porter but the problem is that Guinness tends to be the only non-lager option in a lot of bars (especially gay bars!) The phrase 'It's a Guinness pub' has been used by 2legs and I to describe a bar without proper beer and where Guinness is the only option.

I find that if you are an "ale" man then you often end up drinking Guinness as it is the only palatable option.

It's even harder to find Beamish and Murphy's than it is to find a proper ale!

Reminds me of the Budweiser and Coors Lite (watered down beer) dominance over the many good ales and lagers here in America.

With us it's Stella, Carling, Carlsberg, Kronenburg and, for reasons which are beyond me, Fosters. Stella and Carling pretty much dominate.
