Something like that.
Which bloke from Harry Enfield? It's entirely plausible that I'm getting my cultural icons in a twist.

Did I imagine this or did you somewhere say that you'd moved up to Guisborough from southness? If you did they why have we been discussing whether or not I ever met you as you wouldn't have been there then anyway surely?
I don't know about the tango ad but Harry Enfield as in Ted and Ralph?

Bagpuss Posted Dec 16, 2000
I moved to Guisborough when I was about 1, but my parents were still southern (though my grandfather wasn't).
Ah. They're Fast Show, which didn't include Enfield and which I never liked that much.

Tinkerbell *tumbleweed* Posted Dec 17, 2000
Oh right so you would have been there then? Errr are you back there now?
Sorry, getting confused, all of the Fast Show was pure genius not just the Brilliant bloke, Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson are very good...

No, I'm still in Studentville, Leeds, but I'll be heading homewards on Thursday (and southwards to visit relatives on Christmas Eve).
Thanks, Fish, for proving I'm not going mad, but who's this distracting salmon you mention?
Umm??!
Tinkerbell *tumbleweed* Posted Dec 19, 2000
Aaaah, ok...
*grins*
I don't think you'll get an answer off of him as I hear he's being distracted by a Salmon...
But maybe if you poked him?
*goes off to find a stick*

I thought you were meant to tickle fish. Or put two purple feathery things on a hook in the hope they'll mistake it for a maggot or something.

*Gets out deckchair and umbrella, puts trilby on head and does that thing with the rod to get the bait out a long way*
Okay.

The Fish Posted Dec 20, 2000
"Casting" I think you mean... and are you fly or hook fishing?
*Sniffs at bait*
Errr.... Salmon..... well lets just say it's a metaphor....
Leeds?!! They've got Alien bus drivers in Leeds....
Oi! Watch where you pointing that stick!
Umm??!
Bagpuss Posted Dec 21, 2000
Er, both; I've got a fly on the hook.
Alien bus drivers? As far as I know they're just adept at saying the phrase, "Sorry, don't go there," in precisely the same tone regardless of whether this means you're on the wrong bus or you happen to have misnamed the stop by mistake (e.g. "Richmond Way" instead of "Richmond Road")
