I still try to learn for an exam on thursday right at the moment. I have sooo much to do and no idea how I shall ever get it done.
No, I don't write usually. Sometimes I do, but just very short things. Funny stuff mostly. Sarcastic. I'm just better in telling stories with pictures.
And of course I write in German if I do. That's just easier, for I need all kinds of horribly oldfashioned words and so. Or just things I don't know how to say in English.

It's the same with most artest's, pictures not word's appeal to them. I speak a tiny amount of german myself.

Yes, exactely. There are loads of pictures in my head usually. Some are also connected to stories, but I never write them down.
Ja?
What kind of things do you write?

Well, since I read The Lord Of The Rings hen I was 13, I somhow can't get away from it anymore. It's still best.
I also like Tad Williams' Otherland for instance.
What about you?

U2006 Posted Nov 14, 2005
Oh i lean more towards the lighter stuff, you know tom holt, terry pratchet that sort of thing.

Tavaron da Quirm - Arts Editor Posted Nov 14, 2005
Ah, Terry Pratchett, yes. Love him. Although lighter stuff is relative in this case I'd say. Very good irony and so. Very ture I'd say.
Haven't read any Tom Holt yet.

I really like Terry Pratchet, he has to be one of the most Talented british Writers i've ever seen. Tom holt is fantastic, you should read some of his books. he is so funny!

Yes, that's really true.
Good, I'll try to read something by him. Must find something first. Thanks for the tip.
Have you ever tried Tad Williams? Nothing for people who like short stories, but I like it. Haven't read many of his books yet, though.

You should try Otherland. It's great, although it's a bit difficult in the beginning and you don't know what's really going on till all information comes together in the end... and it has about 3000 pages or so.
It's kind of a mixture of fantasy and science fiction I'd say.

Wow...is it high fantasey? Sounds like it..high fantasey can either be really good or really bad. Depends on the writer. I'll give it a shot and tell you what i think.

I'm not sure what you mean with 'high fantasy'
It's really good. One of the best books I've ever read. But, as I said, the beginning is hard. In fact the story really starts after the first book. And it really is all different from what it seems in the beginning.
Some bits are really nasty, like the one murderer.

U2006 Posted Nov 15, 2005
Oh High Fantesey is basicly like lord of the rings - evil dark lords, good Vs evil, quests and gods or evlves fliting in and out. Sorry it's a phrase i heard somewhere.

Tavaron da Quirm - Arts Editor Posted Nov 15, 2005
ERm... no, it's not that kind. It's of course good vs evil, but it is often very hard to say who is on which side... only in some cases it is absolutely clear. And the big question is 'what are the evil ones actually doing?'
No, gods, no, just awful people pretending to be some.
As I said, it's a mixture. It's basically science fiction (end of 21st century I'd say), but the new technology creates some kind of fantasy... can't get any clearer here, for I could spoil it. It's something about VR.
