Sho - employed again!

so this weekend is a busy one for me. For our anniversary smiley - chef got me a season ticket to the opera in Düsseldorf - 8 tickets in all.

we decided that he'd give opera a go so we picked 4 performances. The first of which is tomorrow. So last week he bought himself a new suit, shirt and tie and he will go to his very first opera. Carmen.

Tonight I've been to the gym and done all the introductory stuff for my new OU course (DD209 - running the economy)

Sunday it will be a quick trip to the gym followed by cycling over to the annual farmers' market. Hopefully the heritage apple people will be there again so we can find some yummy apples and pears. And I really hope the lady who makes the cappuccino jelly (jam) will be there. Because it is absolutely ESSENTIAL between the layers of my coffee and walnut cake.

You go to the gym to run the economy? I knew I was doing it wrong!

Cappuccino jelly sounds tasty. The farmer's market in our old neighborhood (we're now a mile north) is Sunday, and it's the second to last one. I'm going to stock up on picked green tomatoes. They also have a mushroom mix - oyster, crimini, shiitake and button - 1 1/2 lbs for $10 (at least $8 a lb for any of those at the grocery store).

I'm going to buy a treadmill for the back bedroom soon. I am not sure how soon I can start using it, but I am hoping that doing so will mean less need for physical therapy. I was told that I should not attempt to use the stair machine thingy I have for at least six months, so treadmill it is!

hehe - it's a while since I've been on a treadmill, it's all cross trainers, rowing machines and weights these days on account of my ancient knees.

Danish composer John Frandsen's opera trilogy "Discipline and its Opposite in the Middle Time" lasts 11 hours. You could have watched 88 hours of opera with those tickets smiley - biggrin

Well, Carmen was marvellous, as was the champagne in the lobby before hand.

And even though we were togged up to the nines in our bestest posh gear, we managed a pint of smiley - stout in one of the Irish pubs (they seem to be breeding, every time I'm in the Altstadt there's another one) followed by Belgian Pommes Frites and a beer in our favourite heavy metal dive. Which provoked a few interesting reactions - given our attire.

The only downside to Saturday evening was getting my heel trapped in the grille by the side of the road getting out of the taxi at home, I eventually managed to pull my shoe free, but the rubber thing on the end of the heel stayed behind so they'll have to be reheeled before I wear them again smiley - sadface
