Sho - employed again!

Every now and then the people at work arrange something in the evening, a couple of us go to the cinema sometimes, or the guys play football (actually 1 of the women joins in with that too) and several times a few of the guys have been Karting.

Yesterday 7 of us went Karting, I was the only woman which caused some consternation (not from me) and it was great fun, but very stressful because the course is very wiggly, and I'm rubbish at Karting.

After our 30 laps I was, as I expected, last (last time we went there were more women, I was Female Champion and 6th overall so I have something of a reputation as a bit of a fiend on the track) but it was a few minutes before I could actually stand up and get myself out of the kart. my legs were quite wobbly, but my arms ached so much, I could hardly move my left arm and couldn't actually make my fingers grip anything for about 2 hours.

I went home on the train, with sore arms (but still managed a short typed conversation with someone, so that was good) and eventually fell into bed at just gone 11pm. (a pain, I have to get up at 5. smiley - chef was with me at that point - he'd been working _very_ late and met me at the station so I didn't have to cycle home alone in the dark. He had to be up at 4)

But my arms were so painful it was difficult sleeping and i kept waking up. Cycling to the statin was horrible because of my arms aching, my bum aching (I guess from the strange driving position and using the pedals, even though I don't actually brake while karting) and my ribs, particularly on my left side really really hurt.

when I got to work I was puzzled about my ribs so I went to the ladies to check. And I have massive bruising on my left side, and it really really hurts.

I hope I manage to sleep tonight. My arms still ache but not nearly as much.

Usually after muscle exertion or whatever I'm sore on the 2nd day as you said Gno, so far today it's not too bad. But my bruise is a fantastic colour. I look and feel as though I've been kicked by a horse.

It was really great fun though. smiley - smiley

It's a good sign that your bruise is a fantastic colour - they look their most dramatic when they're healing.

blimey, FB, I remember that. They're not broken, I've had cracked ribs before (I'm just being a drama queen here) and this isn't quite as bad. Nearly as bad, but not like I've had in the past.

At least my arms have stopped hurting now!

If you can get Arnica cream or gel over there it is marvellous for bruising.

Gnomon - time to move on

If you slap Pierce hard enough, the pain in your hand will make you forget your ribs too.

aw but look at him, he's so cute! how could I slap this: smiley - pirate

Well, the bruising is still there but it only hurts if I press it so I think I can stop whining and being a Big Jessie about it now.

Gnomon - time to move on

I've only been karting once. On the way home, I drove my little Subaru around the busiest roundabout in Dublin at 80kph, weaving around the other cars, then realised what I had just done.

last time I went karting, Gnomon, I was the same. Luckily mostly I was on a part of the autobahn with no speed limit. smiley - smiley
