eep!
the point is that if people would only read the instructions (like Mr. Gradient) and follow them, it wouldn't be so "horrible" to be in PR.
Quite frankly we set up the PR Discussion Forum because Matt was so sick of me whingeing at how horrible people in PR were that he wanted
a) to prove me wrong and shut me up (or something like that )
and
b) to give everyone a place to discuss PR and to give both sides of the story
and I have become convinced that yes, it is daunting (trust me,I am a prima donna of a writer and I HATE to be edited, but as a fic writer I learned to listen to the audience) but daunting is ok when the finished product is considered good enough to be published by the BBC (think how good that looks on your writing CV -you can legitimitely say "published by the BBC" )
Yes, it is sometimes abrupt, and yes sometimes there is an element of losing one's rag. But that's not as often as people might think (especially if they sort PR entries by date rather than by most recent posting to the PR thread)
And not to forget, that the reason people put so much effort into PR is that they (we) genuinely want to put good stuff in the guide. I have differing opinions to other people about what a guide entry should be, as does GB, BH and other people who hang around in there.
I like the Ulrich entry, and when I get a few minutes I'll comment (RL is killing me right now so I'm short of time) and I'm hoping that it can be done and dusted in time to hit the FP while it's still topical and relevant (which is a whole other thing of mine) but there are some writers that when I see they have put something in PR I think "nope, I really really can't abuse my eyeballs that much" and I don't even open them. My bad.
Sometimes it's easy to forget the voluntary nature of all aspects of this thing, rather than just the writing side. It's a lot like me and Gruesme #1 and maths: yep, there is shouting and stomping off to bedrooms (not just by her) but the target is the same - good maths. It's the same here - a good guide.
After that, we all need a cup of

So true,I've come across another really failed submission to PR only this morning
>>Sometimes it's easy to forget the voluntary nature of all aspects of this thing, rather than just the writing side.<<
True again, that's what I tried to say last night: that it was nice to see that somebody spent his precious time reading and commenting on what (in this case) I had written

Cheers Sho, for everything I don't suppose you could help me add a bit more to my entry, there's sod all about him out there apart from his professional credentials

Um, I meant to read this yesterday, and now there's tons of backlog so I'll just leave a big and take my pot and go read

Reefgirl regarding your Ullrich entry, (haven't been back to the PR thread today sorry) - I had a Flea Market rescue on Diego Maradona in there recently which got a rough ride first time around, I hadn't a clue of his personal life and tempers got frayed
I ended up calling it "The football career of Diego Maradona" thus skipping over the stuff I didn't want to write, does that help?

I'm just interested in his background that's all, there's sod all about him apart from what's in my entry, I was just wondering if any German Reseachers had anymore info

Even if I wanted to Sho - not likely
But I think in our own little way the PR Discussion Forum has helped make PR more accessible, because the sniping goes on elsewhere now

its kind of why I'm avoiding Fingon, it took me hours to find what I had. Even then most of it was from my memories as a 10 year old watchign him spit at journos

Ah well, that's what you get for being passionate about a fairly minority sport around these parts

What is it about men on bikes? The lycra? The smooth, hairless legs? The monster thighs? Or the fact that pedalling a bike all day keeps them out of "trouble".
