I was telling the 12 yr old daughter last night when we were in Walmart that I wanted an lava lamp for my space.

We were wandering around the store looking for inspiration.
She has a science project on earthquake proof buildings due on Wed. morning.
We ended up returning home with a bit of foam board.

I'm a big fan of Boomtown Rats.

I've always loved lavalamps I've got three of them, but two don't work and I don't have anywhere to put them in my room I like the glittery one

I've got a chance to send my portfolio off to the uni I've wanted into since I was 7. The portfolio police are a mixture of my parents and the art departement at school who are nagging me

Let's see, where have I wanted to go since I was seven....?

well it's just because it was the local art school, the one I'd heard about for years and because it's one of the top 3 art schools in the UK.

Not to be too thick, but what does one hope to learn in art school?

Are you lacking in some skill?

One hope to learn how to careful home her skills in the area of art and design, improve her talents and get a job

Gee whiz, in the bad old days, all you had to do was design one album cover and you were set for life.
Of course, it had to be for the right band...

Nowadays, I guess the equivalent is web design...

though, how a website could be as popular and memorable thirty years from now as the cover for the Beatle's 'Revolver' is today, is quite beyond me...

The Beatles Revolver cover isn't as famous as oithers, I dare say if you asked people about the Beatles covers and albums they'd know Revolver but not what it had on its cover (I do cause it's a fvae of mine) unlike say Sgt Pepper or Abbey Road.

Anyway these days it doesn't seem to matter how much raw talent you have if you don't have a adegree to back it up you're worth nowt.

I'd like to design for record sleeves though...or do photography, or maybe jewellery design, I like the idea of them.

Well, be careful.

Talent and training are not always compatible.
