I'm glad I don't dream of things like that!
Thankfully there have been no repetitions but I'm still watching her like a hawk.

Well that was a first. Mum has been going to the Curzon Centre every Wednesday for years. She is collected 9.30ish for her 10am-4pm day then delivered home, on a distinctive white bus. After Andy Murray lost at 4pm I went out into the front garden to hack away at some overgrown plants and deadhead the buddleia. I was right at my front gate when this bus sails past me, I saw Mum in the front seat behind the driver and waved but she missed me completely because she wasn't even looking in my direction. Quite a few of the others, on my side of the bus, waved back at me though

The care agency continues to exasperate me beyond distraction. I re-instated the usually Friday morning & lunch carers last week for this Friday on account of my partner's funeral. I even checked again earlier this week and the girl told me the names of the enlisted carers for Friday morning & lunch.
During my partner's wake, my sister got a call from our sister-in-law who had travelled from Nottingham with my brother to support me and then after they left the wake popped to Mum's on their outward journey to have a with her. Guess what? No carers. Mum was still in her pyjamas, she'd not eaten and was sipping water. No doubt the tea carer would have attended to everything & informed the office but would we have even known?
I'm off to Mum's now but on the way I am picking up my daughter's wedding treat for myself, a pair of sparkly shoes and going to buy the matching handbag, Mum will be first to see them so hopefully she will soon forget the trauma of yesterday when no-one turned up to make her

It worked a treat. I also took my hat which I have adapted from the original decoration of blue-dyed chicken feathers to peacock feathers and she loved the ensemble. She said I will look like the Queen Mother at the wedding (I will take that as a compliment, she used to be quite a looker)

Sounds like a outfit - glad your mum enjoyed it.
Those people had better get on the stick and start making her on time.

I agree with Dmitri on both counts...
Would your mum be interested in a postcard of our two lighthouses? Or a quick "Hello" from someone with a very thick generic American accent (though it's possible my accent might be changing a bit by then--I'll have been surrounded by Brits for almost a week and a half by the time Wand'rin and I arrive in Cleethorpes )

I do keep a jar of on the go for visitors with that preference, but we're all tea-bellies
Had Mum's annual review this morning with Emma from the care trust & respite team, she is going to lodge the complaint about the cock-up last Friday for us. She sympathised with my current circumstances and was very kind, but when she asked if caring for Mum has a detrimental impact on my life and I started to say "I used to have balance but now I don't" I didn't get any further

Sympathy is a double-edged sword, isn't it? It's often easier to keep it together when people are being matter-of-fact.

It sure is. I am still all over the place with my emotions. Early days. I still can't believe I will never see him again. I never dreamed that when I met him, my mother would outlive him. It's like our plans have disintegrated and now I don't know what to do with myself.

That's good that the annual review took place this week so the cock up could be raised at that level
