I dont say that the web is better than sex, but sliced bread is in serious trouble! |
Where I live
Being a born and bred Muswell Hillbilly* I have now decamped to Hertford, the county town of Hertfordshire, being an old and historic market town quite a lot has gone on there in the past, quite a bit still goes on but it is mostly limited to eating, drinking, and clubbing! However more of Hertford will appear in my guide entries when I get around to them.

What fires me up
Well then what does fire me up, what gets the old juices flowing? Sitting comfortably ? Then I will tell you! There are many and wonderous things that get me going.
The joy of learning, education is an important part of life, it developed our persona, and our understanding of the world around us. Almost everything we do is learnt behaviour, (this is not the place for a sociological debate, I might start that forum soon however, this is just my opinion) From the way we talk to the way we interact with people of the opposite sex, bedroom athletics included! To the way we look at the world and society in general. Therefore it would come as no surprise to find out I am undertaking an Open University degree..... in Sociology! It really is helping me to get a grip on why things happen the way they do in the world.
Other things that really do it for me is good music, anything from Jazz toHeavy Metal, Stan Getz to Motorhead and all points in between.
Literature, not only classic authors, but also popular writers, favourites being Leslie Thomas, who has a highly descriptive and often comic view of people and the world around him in the characters he produces. Dear Douglas also especially the guide series, and Tom Sharpe for his cuttingly sarcastic and ironic view of the world as portrayed in his many books.
Conversation also get's me going, from inane footy* talk in the pub to deeper academic discussion.
That covers the food for the brain, what about the food for the body I hear you ask, you are asking arn't you? I will tell you anyway.
Beer, Beer and more Beer, there are so many varieties of English bitter, mild and stout, I could devote my life to it! Most of it drinkable, some of it especially so. favourites are Timothy Taylor's Landlord, Fullers ESB and Ringwoods Old Thumper.
Good wine, no plonk here! I have recently discovered South African Chenon Blanc.......lovely stuff! But the real passion is for Red wines such as Chateneuf du Pape.
Food, besides Marmite it has to be Italian, for dining out, and home cooking, it's quick simple and tasty, what more could you want. Chinese and Indian are more challenging to cook and as I love cooking I enjoy those also but to knock up a good pasta meal can take only 20 mins from start to finish, so that is why it's favourite.
And finally, thank god I can hear some say! Food for the soul, not soul food!........
Laying on a sandy beach, in a warm subtropical night, a drink on one side a pretty, intelligent lady on the other, the warm breeze kissing our bodies, as we look at the stars with the hum of life away in the distance. Making love in the warm open air withthe waves lapping the beach can be a really moving experience.......try it!
