Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive

Hi Okapi,

I have just opened a Natural History Museum at http://www.h2g2.com/A416819 and I wanted to ask you two things.

Firstly, are you happy to be in the museum (you only have to stand still when there are visitors)? Secondly, may I link from your name in the museum to your Space?

We even-toed ungulates are a much ignored species and would be only too happy stand around and be stared at for the benefit of those who have no idea what an even-toed ungulate actually is!
Link away, link away....all publicity is good publicity and we need all that we can get!

The Natural History Museum is taking shape. I have designed a logo for it and I hope you will display it on your user page. Here is the code for the logo and links for GuideML pages. It can be modified for HTML pages by changing the LINK tags to HTML anchors.

You may consider it done - we even-toed types are nothing if not helpful...and Okapi's enjoy hugs and having their snouts scratched too!{{reciprocal hug!}}

If Okapi's were capable of blushing...but thank you!
All is up and running.
This is very good stuff, y'know...I wish I had the ability / technical wherewithals to do that! That link that you put through to your page at the end? etc...would that if I wanted to link, for instance, to Gavroche's page?
Okapi's are not renowned for their agility with things computerised, do y'see? Help would be much appreciated - in VERY plain English!
Thanks...and dare I say it...? Oh what the Hell!!!
Big Kiss too! smiley - bigeyes

Thanks for the link. The tag works with any user page.

Replace the code I gave you with this:

Amy!!!
Help somebody to stop having an heart attack - namely, ME!!
Not all that long ago, I logged in, as I usually do, via my favourites page, and it threw up an 'alabaster' page (eeek!) and WOULDN'T LET ME ACCESS ANYTHING!(EEEEEK!) It told me I was an 'unknown hiker' - damn cheek! - and it was only by purest luck I got back to my beloved 'goo' page and could send you this. Luck = actually remembering my original password!
So my question is this - WHY??!!??!!??
Just some idea would be appreciated, cos if there's a way I can avert that horrible, sinking feeling, I'd REALLY, REALLY like to know!
Yours in anticiaption,
The(white-haired)Okapi.smiley - sadface
PS - I'll have a go at yer WAP ASAP!smiley - smiley

I think a white okapi would be quite cute.

The likeliest cause of an alabaster event would be your browser loosing the cookie that h2g2 puts on your hard disk in order to remember who you are.

It happens. There's no way of avoiding it. Just remember your password (although the automatic system will send you your password to your registration email address within seconds of you trying to register with a blank password field).

I use alabaster myself (trust me, I'm a Human-Computer Interface professional) and I occasionally get goo attacks but, perversely, this is not a cookie problem but a misinterpretation by the h2g2 server. I remain registered but everything goes blue.

Amy.
Thanks for your help...I knew there was reason for my mistrusting mechanical things. I shall just keep going to the proper page and signing in until something happens to reverse the situation.
Thanks for all your advice!
