Hiya. Just thought I'd step in and say hi, since noone else seems to have greeted you to this place.
Welcome to H2G2 and all the wonders of this åplace. I hope you enjoy it.
I'm not any official greeter or anything, but I thought it was a bit of a shame that noone had been here to greet you yet.

Well, I do need to brush up on my German. I haven't really used it in about 5-6 years, since I left school.
I don't remember much of it, just the basic phrases and that you guys have a lot of funny twists in the sentence structures.
The first message was a mistake. I accidentally sent the message away after the first word... *d'Oh!*
Ich kan nicht gut Deutsch spreche. Ich habe nicht in about fünf oder sechs jahre Deutsch sprechen.

Ich sehe Du bemühst Dich, und das ist was zählt! Deutsch ist nämlich wirklich verdammt schwierig, ich selber beherrsche es auch nur ungenügend, bei mir ist Rechtschreibung immer Gefühlssache.

I Really really need to get my Deutsch a bit more up-to-date. I did actually understand what you said in that message, with me trying and that's what counts and German being damned hard and stuff.
Somehow I find it easier to understand German when I read it or hear it, than if I had to write or speak it myself.
'Gefühlssache'? 'Of lesser importance'?

Oh well.

The same thing with swedish:
Reading: I'm becoming better!
Writing: hmmm
speaking: please don't run away!

Also könntest to vielleicht ein paar schwedische Sprachelemente in deine Konversation einfließen lassen? Das wäre sehr nett, ich schreibe dir dafür auch ein paar Zeilen auf Deutsch.

Visst kan jag skriva på Svenska om du vill förbättra din Svenska-förståelse.

Ich hoffe das mein Deutsch besser und besser werden, the more I try to use it.
After all ,if I can get going with my German skills, I might use that as a leverage point in getting a promotion or something.. *ka-ching*

LIS, du bist ein Schatz!

Aber du brauchst deine Statements nicht unbedingt in's Englische zu übersetzen.
Wenn du deine Arbeitgeber mit deinen Deutschkenntnissen beeindrucken willst, kannst du ja bei dieser Gelegenheit noch etwas üben. Ich verstehe zumindest, was du mir sagen willst.

Det tog ett tag innan jag förstod allt det där, men det är sant. Om jag skulle behöva visa att jag kanske kan lite Tyska så kan jag alltid gå hit och öva.

Ich brauche viel Deutsch übung, und ich denkst das die home page von der Frankfurt Galaxy und Rhein Fire ist gut übung. Oder was denkst du, mein Vreund?

american football should be played in the USA, the reason, why so many peaople visite the matches of Galaxy & Co is, that the Fans of the old fashioned football clubs in Germany are not "mostly harmless". Alkoholism, Vandalism, Hooliganism to many -isms for me, so I'm whatching TV...and others simply switched the sport.

Kurt Tucholsky, hat 1931 eine Wahnsinnige Geschichte über einen Sommer in Süd-Schweden geschrieben, habe leider den Namen vergessen, den reiche ich nach. Später mußte er dann emigrieren (ebenfalls nach Schweden) und nahm sich dort aus Kummer das Leben. Und das obwohl seine Erzählungen so voller Lebensfreude sind... unfaßbar traurig

Du bist genau richtig das die Fussball fans oft sehr gewalttätig sind. Die Amerikanischer fussball fans sind sehr breuderlig und kann zusammen party vor der Match. Das ist ein Ursache Amerikanischer Fussball gefällt mir.

Jag undrar om de meningarna stämde och att jag fick fram vad jag ville säga.
Jag ska gå och titta på de hemsidorna du tipsade mig om för att se vad som finns där.

Ein Tipp:

Du bist wahrscheinlich näher an der deutschen Grammatik, wenn du den Satzbau direkt aus dem schwedischen übernimmst, manchmal kannst du auch versuchen wörtlich zu übersetzten, wenn du beispielsweise "ja" statt "ju" einfügst.
