A Canadian United Friend here, extending a hand for a virtual handshake! Good to have you onboard, so to speak. I used to, but have gotten out of it -now it's just walkin'. This's a very sociable community so you'll get plenty of opportunities to chat...in fact I'd welcome a bit of a chat at some point. Always good to know the newer folks in the neighbourhood.
Oh & I'm 48 (& male), so don't worry about the grey hair, it denotes maturity...bit of a badge of honour, imho!

Hey hi!!
Sorry it's taken me a long time to get back to you - I haven't been on here for a couple of days with the nightmare of going back to work and getting the kids back in school mode - but sanity reigns again (hahahahahaha) even if only briefly ....
So, how's life in Canada?? I'd be glad to chat anytime. I've only been on board for a week or so but it all seems very sociable and I'm looking forward to making some new friends - so thanks for getting in touch speak again soon?

Good to get your reply Muv! Don't worry about not getting back to me sooner, you've been understandably preoccupied luv.
Life in Canada is quiteright now...well -8 which really isn't that bad -it was -20 yesterday. Yes I'm usually up for a chat as well although I can understand your Busy schedule ...keep in mind I'm 7 hours ahead of you, so it's midafternoon as I type this. You might find this http://www.worldtimeserver.com useful (I'm in Edmonton, Alberta).

Crikey -20!!!!! It's about 10 here at the mo and that is chilly enough for me, don't think I'd survive out there.
Thanks for the worldtimeserver link - I've checked it and according to that you are very probably tucked up in bed (lucky you - I've just got into work!!)
Well, the kids got off to school yesterday with the minimum of fuss (hahahahahaha) and they just loved every minute of it now it's all downhill to the weekend and some decorating How bout you??

Hello Muv, actually nightowl that I am, I was just about to get to bed when this cantankerousof a computer started acting up. You'd likely be finishing up your work day when I woke up - had I just give up & gone to bed. So I'm glad I did stay at it (so to speak) & noticed your posting now! Actually I'm looking forward to a friend's fondue party/get-together Sat. afternoon & possibly a quick trip to the local farmer's market that morning.

Actually Muv, on the topic of our winters we've learnt to deal with them - of course some of us better than others. As you'll see in some of these sites:
http://www.canadianbirkie.com & http://www.skimarmot.com
http://www.westedmontonmall.com or
http://www.westerntour.com/Edmonton ...I'll try to find some others, ok.
TTFN!

Hi Jaz'd
That's the beauty of the internet really isn't it - no-one actually has to be at the other end to keep in touch, if you get my drift. I mean, if you and I were relying on the telephone, for a start we'd never have heard of each other and with the kind of time difference it would take a bl**dy miracle to time the call right .... so is what I reckon.
Thanks for the piccies - I'm there with the shopping and the white knuckle rides but not sure about all that snow .... do you ski or anything? or is that compulsory out there?? Edmonton looks stunning - nothing round here compares to it.
Well, I was sposed to have a date tomorrow night - trying to get a social life back after a bit of a gap - but just been blown out so thanks for the - I needed that!!
Enjoy the rest of your day - catch up with you again soon

jaz'd(ace & yada yada *sigh* chocolate yada) Posted Jan 6, 2005
Oh , too bad about the date luv! Extrafor that! No I don't , that's why I said some of us deal with it (the winter) better than others...& oh no, it's not compulsory. It just gives a recreatioonal aspect to the snow/winter, that's all.
And yes I heartily agree about the whole communication thing...I mean, it Can be done over the phone - my aunt still has family there. But the computer is much more convenient & I've met people from various places. For instance I've 'spoken' (so to speak) with pheloxi - who started United Friends, he's in The Netherlands. I routinely talk to an Australian (& occasionally to another)& a few eastern europeans as well as a few Canadians living both east & west of me. Not to mention a couple that are now living abroad, etc. So yesBravo!

I have to say I stumbled on this site quite by accident and have loved it ever since - it's great to log on any time of day (or night in your case!!) and find some other insomniac on line.
Anyway I'm off to bed now so pleasant dreams (hang on - no that's me isn't it ...) well, whatever, have fun
