I can still remember when I was a kid watching the original 6 on Hockey Night in Canada. Now thats when hockey was hockey. But I must admit that when the earlier expansion teams came into the NHL we had some great years of hockey. These past few years they are getting to much $$$$$ for their inconsistant efforts ( if ya know what I mean ). But I will always be a fan !!! Ahhhhhh so many great memories
Well thats my informative tidbit for now . Hopefully sometime we will meet ON LINE .......EH !!! Later Ya;ll

Hockey is the COOLEST game on earth! I doubt your lens would fog over. Not from hockey pictures anyway!

Blondie Posted Apr 26, 2000
Not that I am a bad sport or anything, but I hope Detroit & Colorado have a nasty 7 game series with lots of overtime games!!!
Stars play on Friday night. When does Colorado begin their series?
Hockey memories !!!
Blondie Posted Apr 26, 2000
I have never heard a Canadian say y'all before!!!
The original 6 hockey teams goes WAY back, you just dated yourself, Friend! I grew up in NYC, where as you know we have 3 NHL teams (NY Ranger, NY Islanders, & NJ Devils). I went to a lot of Ranger games as a kid, and that's why I became an Islander fan! FOr the longest time I thought that "off sides" was when the home team touched the puck! Now I live in Texas, and I bleed green & gold for the Stars. GO STARS!!!
Helloooo?
marvthegrate LtG KEA Posted Apr 26, 2000
How about a little wager my dear? If the Stars win I have to have a "Stars Win!" kinda thing on my homepage for a month, the Av's win, you do their name on your page.... What do you say? As for my fandom od the Av's, it dates back to when they were they Quebec City Nordiques.
Hockey Memories !!
Friend Posted Apr 26, 2000
Yes Blondie I`ve dated myself back to when I was a kid which would put my birth into the 1950`s . Thats not so old !!! The 60`s were great and so were the 70`s . I think Doc`s chemicle`s sauntered there way up into our neck of the woods back then
But Hockey seems to be the topic here so ......I hope Colorado wins , mainly because they were the Nordiques and Roy is by far the best goalie around today. He kinda reminds me of Jacques Plante.
One thing I miss most out of this sport is the rough and tough
play of yesteryears. Oh those Flyers,, now they were tough !!!
I think they should can Bettman and put Don Cherry in as NHL commissioner, and cap those young whinney rookie`s salaries. They are getting way to much money for their inconsistant efforts. But thats just my opinion and we all have one !!! And now you know .....the rest of the story
`s at blondie with peace of mind
Later EH !!!!
P:S: we up north use Ya;ll to ya know ( ya hooser)

Blondie Posted Apr 26, 2000
Why would you be a fan of Quebec??? I thought it kinda funny that the first year they move to Colorado, they win The Cup.
I'm game for a wager, Marv. It's easy if The Stars and The Avs actually meet in the next round. If they do, how 'bout a really BIG "Congratulations to Dallas Stars on successfully humilating the Colorado Avalanche" banner on your homepage. If, by some FLUKE, The Avs should win, help me to put a similar banner on my page with the words "Stars" and "Avalanche" reversed.
But what if either of our teams chokes in THIS round? What then?
I think both series in the West are going to be nasty. San Jose has Brian Marchment, who deliberately injured Mike Modano, Joe Nieuwendyk, and another marquee player for The Stars. We Stars fan HATE Marchment! It should be nasty. Detroit and Colorado don't exactly have a lovefest going either. I predict that which ever team escapes this round with the fewest injuries and in the fewest number of games, will with the confernce.

Heya Marv ,,
My money is with the Av,s all the way. Dallas should be a good contender but the Leafs woulda been better (hangs head and crys) I woulda been happy with the Vancouver Canucks there instead of Dallas but ***se la vi *** Later
When Colorado`s finished Dallas will be seeing STARS....lol

Blondie Posted Apr 26, 2000
If you like rough play, then I think you might find the San Jose v. Dallas series very entertaining. As I was telling Marv, Brian Marchment is a marked man in Dallas because he deliberately injured 3 of our star players. If the Stars can get rid of The Sharks in 4 or 5 games, then we WILL win the conference - especially if Colorado and Detroit go for 7 games.
I am familar with The Broad Street Bullies (Philly Flyers) of the 70's. As a LITTLE kid, my dad took me to NY Ranger games. The Patrick Division was also known as the Black and Blue division for very good reasons!
Born in the 50's, eh? Ha! You are MUCH older than I am! I was born in the 60's.

Blondie, You are on! If our teams are knocked out we will re-evaluate our wager. Det. vs. Co. is always fun, except for the last game of the season. They played penalty free for the full game, first time in 20 years.
Hockey Memories !!
Blondie Posted Apr 26, 2000
Marv, Cool. You may want to start working on the really BIG "Congratulations to Dallas Stars on successfully humilating the Colorado Avalanche" banner NOW! I'd like to see it BLINKING on your homepage, in large green and gold colors! Yes, if either of our teams choke in THIS round, then this particular wager is off. I hate San Jose, so if they happen to beat the Stars, I'll probably want them to lose to either the Avs or the Detroit Dork Wings.
But why did you like Quebec if you live in Utah?
Penalty free games usually are boring!
GO STARS!!! I am so happy I am flashing my fishies!
Hockey Memories !!
marvthegrate LtG KEA Posted Apr 26, 2000
Well it was more I liked one of the players that was playing for them. He used to be on my local IHL team. And the game was very good really. Close checking and fast. I for one liked it. I was glad to see San Jose win over St Louis, just because they did not play to win it seemed. Co Det is one of the biggest rivalries and it will go to 6 at least.
Playoff Hockey !!
Blondie Posted Apr 26, 2000
Your IHL team? Did you play IHL hockey? Or did you follow an IHL team? Either way, you must REALLY be into it!!
No hockey 2-nite. Whatever will we DO?!?!
I agree that Avs v. DorkWings will go at least 6, maybe 7. I am HOPING for that actually. Dallas v SJ will go 5 or 6, I think. I have been really busy the past few months, so I have no clue what's going on in the east. I know that Philly, Toronto, NJ, and Pittsburgh are left, and that's about it. I will root for NJ, because it's ALMOST my home town! My parents are moving from NYC to NJ soon, so why not cheer for the Devils! My brother and his family live near to Philly, so I have a soft spot for them too. We'll see.
So what are your other interests besides hockey? Some of mine are on my homepage, though the list is not all encompassing by any means. I know you like chocolate, and I do too. What else, Marv?

Well I love a good beer, and I read waaaay too much. Other than that I play with my computer and am a professional computer geek. I am a support engenieer for a Big Router Company. That gives me plenty of time to harass new users on the Guide. I am also a starwars buff and have been an a pit crew for a stock car. My fav things are (INPO) Hockey, cars, computers, books. I also have no life, I wonder why that is?

I work in computers too, coding and designing, not hardware. The LAST thing that I want to do when I go home is to read because my eyes burn from reading all day. I only got a computer at home about 3 or 4 weeks ago, because my employer gave it to me with a DSL connection to boot! They had to really, because I was, and to a certain extent still am recovering from surgery. I have to work from home sometimes, and legally, they have to help me.
I enjoy a cold Molson's too, but not reading. Let's see ... what else did you mention? Stock cars ... don't know much about them, but I am the sort of person who is open minded enough to TRY once it and see if I would enjoy it. But I don't know much about it. Star Wars? I thought that was "verboten" (forbidden) in this place? I mentioned Star Trek to someone and I got an eyeful!!
Right now, I have little life. But I will change that as I get back to 100% health! As soon as I am cleared by my Dr. I will begin an agressive exercise program and get back to feeling good. AT the risk of sounding BLONDE, what's INPO hockey?
I'm headin' home now! I'll check in with 'ya in a bit!
And you never commented about my show of fishies earlier?!?!
I guess you're not impressed
Playoff Hockey !!

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention that. Too many things going at once and I missed my window of opportunity. As for IPNo I forget what thought I was trying to convey there.
