Blondie Posted Apr 25, 2000
Do you mean the "gamecast"? Yeah, I have watched those when I was in class in front of a PC with an internet connection! I watched The Stars march towards The Cup last year via game cast. I thought it was on ESPN's web site though? Whatever. they all link to each other.
I see on the NHL site that the game begins at 9pm eastern and it will be on ESPN. Yipee!!! That means I have an hour to kill!
you must live out west someplace if you are having to watch games at work.

Marv, Just looked at the NHL web site and the game begins in an hour (9pm eastern) on ESPN. Yipee!!!
Do you like working that shift? Since you end at 8, i assume that you begin at noon or thereabouts? I'd prefer to go in earlier so that I could leave earlier myself. Get it overwith, so to speak. But then I am always on call so it really doesn't make much difference.

I'm in Denver, but I work some really funky hours. 1-9 pm. It gives me alot of time in the morning to get things done, but it means that I don't watch the National Daily Alloted value of TV.
I think that ESPN runs nhl.com . You're right, they all kind of run together at some point. The gamecast is a good thing for us cubicle jockeys. It where I'm going to be watching from tonight! Glad that you managed to find the game though. After all *someone* I know has to watch it!

Well, I like to aviod getting up before 8 am if possible. I know I know, I am a slacker, but that is hw I am. I work in a TAC so I get cases all the time. Leaving at 8 gives me the chance to still go out if I so choose and I do not have to wake up early and feel horrible. It works good for me.

Blondie Posted Apr 25, 2000
That's right, you said that you live in Denver earlier. I forgot. No, not because I am blonde, I have other reasons for being forgetful lately. Are you a Broncos fan? My brother went to college with John Elway, so most of my family, except for me, followed the Broncos.
Wow, you must have a few hours left at work, huh? Well, you can kill the time on the net here and at the game cast site!
Yup, the game begins in 35 minutes.

LOL When the Church forum got there the first time I was thrilled. Good to see you are popular eh?

Well, since you are an ACE, can you nominate me for a badge to put on my page!?!? Like a newcomer of the week award or something?
I'd be so grateful I would rethink my position on giving you a fishie ....
And I have other conversations going as well. Jeez, I'd be #1 if I spent ALL my energy in this one! Ha!

I've gotten quite good at killing the evening hours on-line. To the point that last weekend I went up into the mountains with my SO and actually felt *withdrawl*! It never happened until I got this job and this schedule!
I was an Elway fan, but not so much a Bronco fan. He was a great quarterback and carried the team until he retired, as shown by the way they played last season. My grandfather was a dyed in the blue (and orange!) Bronco fan, though, and I have fond memories of watching games with him while popping jalapeno peppers. (My mom never quite forgave him for the latter. ) I was always impressed with the way Elway could pull a game out of the gutter with just one or two plays. He was a true athlete.

Did you have trouble a few minutes ago? I timed out and couldn't log back in for a while.
This is now the 2nd busiest forum! Since Marv is a buddy of yours, and you are an ACE too, is there some sort of award for my acheivement of 2nd busiest (and climbing) forum in just 4 days?!?!
As they say in Wayne's World ... GAME ON! I'll check back with y'all during the intermissions. I cannot see the TV from here.

hear Barry Melrose.

You'll have to keep us up-to-date on the game as it progresses - at least the first bits of it!
I don't know of any major awards granted to newbies for being on the busiest forum list - number to, no less! - but I certainly agree that you deserve *something* for it! I'll pass on one of monsy's sacred vodka-filled chocolate fishies for the quickest rise to the front page that I've ever seen. Here you go!
You'll find that the Guide occasionally freaks out like that. Usually it isn't for long, but it can last upwards of an hour occasionally. And it happens fairly regularly around this time of night. Must be the number of people in the UK logging on/off - or some such!

San Jose 2, St. Louis 0, the 1st period just ended. SJ scored the 2nd goal with just 10 seconds left in the period. That ought to demoralize St. Louis just a tad! I want SJ to win so that they play The Stars instead of Colorado!
Still 2nd busiest forum, even though the game has slowed us down and Marv has logged off!

Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Apr 26, 2000
We're just that good!
Knowing Marv, he'll be logging back on shortly. He's got a DSL at home, lucky dog that he is, so gets almost as good a connection from there as at work. Then, perhaps, we'll hit the number one slot.
I have to say that I'd rather play Dallas than Detroit, probably for the same reason that you'd rather play San Jose than us. Ah well. We would have hit Detroit eventually anyway. Might as well get them out of the way, I suppose. Either way, this year is giving us some interesting hockey in the playoffs! Lots of fun!

Blondie Posted Apr 26, 2000
I have a DSL here at home too. Work paid for it because I have to work at home sometimes. I didn't even have my own PC at home before a few weeks ago because I work on one all day and it just makes me think of work.
Well, why don't y'all take Detroit out and do everyone a favor!?!?
I think that either Dallas or Colorado can beat Detroit, frankly. Before the BIG trade that got Borque over to your camp, I wouldn't have been concerned about the Avs either. Dallas has a lot of talent, they just get lazy. That's why they screwed off the first couple of months of the season .. because they COULD! They'd lose to the easy teams, then win against the better ones. Pure attitude.
Well, the 2nd period has started. R U watching on gamecast?
Helloooo?
Gw7en, Voice of Chaos (Classic) Posted Apr 26, 2000
Sure am! Looks like its pretty exciting, at least from this vantage point. Lots of little Xs last period.
Between Borque and Andrychuk, we came out really well on that deal. And they've already worked their way onto the team really well. Its a good fit over all. Given a level playing field I am sure that we can beat them. After all, we won the last game with them with 0 penalties called - first time in 30 years. They do still have a bit of a psychological edge over us - we had lost the last 3 games against them. It should be interesting...

It's 3 - zip with about 5 minutes left in the 2nd. St. Louis does NOT look good, and the crowd is turning on them.
Even the ESPN announcers are sounding like they gave up.

Hello, Thought that I'd come and see what was so interesting. And since it's hocky I guess I'll shut up and listen, although I think that it would be fun to take pictures of. That is if I could keep my lens from fogging over.
