Hi

v. good point - easy to get carried away!
Anyway, I'm no doc or anything, but I do on occasion have problems sleeping - mainly due to pain, but tonight I just can't sleep! Usually if alot has been going on.
I remember when I was younger (get out the walking stick) I used to think about life, death & the meaning of it - never did get any answer though. So, I think now, what was the point?

I think the latter is bothering me .I lost my gran a year and half ago and before that i thought i knew everything .What people told you about religion and spiritual etc.
Now im having trouble excepting that the person i knew is no longer here.
I hope your okay now??
Hi

Yes, a death can be extremely hard to bear & understand. I am sorry for you & your loss.
Over the years I have lost quite a few! It began when I was about 17: a lad who was a couple of years older than me died from a brain haemmorhage, then another in a light aircraft crash, then another who I was "fixed-up" with on a blind date - which didn't work out - got killed gliding in South Africa & so it goes on.
The worst out of friends was a suspect suicide (no-one ever believed it - thought it was a cover-up by a certain company) - he had been SO great.
There was a succession of older members of the family & then my uncle who was much too young. And then my father a couple of years ago - then I woke up. He had been in a nursing home for 3 & half years gradually declining - if I had been able to have my way I would have pulled the tubes & let him pass on - he was SO clever & proud.
I had never been a really religious person, but now all I can see is man-made hypocrisy. I have beliefs, but more of a natural way. We're born, we live (we are cogs in the big machinery of existence) & we die returning to who knows what! I like to think we have a second chance (maybe more) of life again - guess I'll never know. It is up to us who live to carry on the tales, happiness, improving on what our forebears invented or thought.
When I lost my grandfather I used to think he was always there - especially at night, in my room just watching over me - it gave me comfort. The strange thing is that when I recently remarried - he seems to have gone. Is that odd? Is it tricks our mind plays on us?
Cripes - I've rambled again.

No you havent i like to hear other peoples views.
What i find really confusing we are born and we are aware of Existence we can eat sleep drink etc then time runs out.
I just find it hard to except a specices so advanced as mankind ceases to exist when we die.I know its terrible when you lose a pet.But losing a living beathing thinking person is a bit much
Hi
Boxing Baboon (half here an half there ) Posted Sep 23, 2005
funny enough i dont care about myself its ppl i know .
Hi
Shirps Posted Sep 23, 2005
Me too - I just hope when I "snuff it", as it were, that other people will have fond memories of me & keep some of my possessions to remember me.
Why not a pet too? I was devastated when my first dog died - I actually wrote a poem!
It is difficult though, what you have to remember is that whatever sort of life they have lived, there is always something left behind of them. It could be as simple as a photograph or even ... here's mindblower - yourself!
When you say "advanced as mankind" do you mean our intelligence? If so, there are many intelligent beings around. Do you think twice if you kill an ant? Yet their organisational skills compare with nothing - sometimes I think they are superior to humans in that way By the by I've killed hundreds of them - I sort of think that if there are "Pearly Gates" that a horde of them will greet me there with 'human' powder instead of ant powder
Hi
Boxing Baboon (half here an half there ) Posted Sep 23, 2005
Yes i do love my cats and i would be upset when they go.But i think human life is more important.
Regarding your point about killing ants is it such a crime to kill something that as no idea that its actually living??
Well this question as been asked for 1000s of years i guess its noting knew
Im going now its far to late. I hope we chat further sometime .and about other things aswell+ i hope your not suffering to much.
Hi
Shirps Posted Sep 23, 2005
Good points - yes, I am beginning to feel wearier - strange though, I've started thinking about my grandad again - as I said it gives me comfort - v. strange.
The old chap who used to live next door used to talk to his long gone wife - he asked if I thought that was OK - I said yes, if it gives you comfort & who knows ... she may be listening. Now there's a thought.
Drop by any time.
Pain due to tenosynovitis, tendonitis, arthritis now - so I am kindof used to it, but I had three ops on my left hand a couple of months ago - still settling
Night, night - think of your gran & how she used to be - big smiles
Hi
Boxing Baboon (half here an half there ) Posted Sep 23, 2005
Oh im sorry to hear that .well im awake again had a couple of hours of sleep
Hi
Shirps Posted Sep 23, 2005
It didn't take long for me to go "off" & the dog woke me up at about 7.30am - got to go to my mums now to help her sort out things
Not sure if I helped you at all - difficult thing: acceptance.
One other thought: wouldn't it be a crowded world if we all continued to exist on the material plane?
I looked up your page! You're the same age as my daughter - who is now expecting a baby - there you go, a continuation of myself (well, a quarter anyway!) - poor thing
Have a good day - got those matchsticks to keep your eyelids open
Hi

I like a good chat ,its a bit difficult chatting to atheist they have all the answer except a few things ppl like have witnessed or heard about.
And thankfully i managed a few hours later on
Hi
Shirps Posted Sep 23, 2005
Hiya
Just been round to mum - trying to sort all her things so she's more in order - hey presto it was chucking out time
Best to keep a really open mind about things - nothing can be/has been proved - it's so easy to dismiss things, but more difficult to work through them & come to your own conclusion.
I suppose I could be labelled "agnostic"? I hate labels though I reckon people should take time out to work through things & even if they can't reach a conclusion, which is solid, they could find some comfort in some things they have heard, seen, discovered, etc.
I can't make my mind up if there are ghosts or whether they are kindof electrical type impulses left over from someone's life. Even if I saw a ghost I couldn't make my mind up entirely which was the cause of the effect!
I reckon I may have an hour or two in bed with a hot water bottle a bit later, although I don't want to miss Corrie Street - Status Quo - yaaay
Hi

Alot of atheis only ignore things cause their in love with the idea of being the center of everything. Some people self importance annoys me greatly.
Even people in my life will not listen to reason they have the power and refuse to let go.I think thats a bit daft if they believe death is death why do they have the feeling of grandure .When death mocks them from beyond the grave.
Sorry if im whinging but some ppl will never listen to anything but what the chose is right.
Am i the only one who shows respect to everything and doesnt hardly have a nasty thought in my head??.
Hi
Shirps Posted Sep 23, 2005
mm, that's why I emphasise being open-minded - a closed mind is a like a closed door - you get nowhere if you can't get through that door.
as they say, you can't take it with you when you die! H'ever, you "may" be able to take the good thoughts & feelings - back to that electrical impulse type thing. There's always been a resounding attitude that there are hauntings where something bad has happened.
I could tell you a story here!
"Am i the only one who shows respect to everything and doesnt hardly have a nasty thought in my head??." - there's not many like you around these days - the world would be a better place if there was.

Hello
Good points i think we shall return to this subject at a later date.
So where in the UK you from or are you from the UK ??
Hi
Shirps Posted Sep 23, 2005
Agreed!!! I'm talking to my daughter on MSN messenger at the same time here - while she is at "work"
Originally I was born in London & lived in North London, then moved up to Northamptonshire about 17 years ago - culture shock somewhat!!!! Hardly any transport & I don't drive!
What about you?
Remind me to tell you about Borley Rectory & Poltergeist at some point

Just listening in. Trying to figure it out. I just don't know what this or anything has to do with one, one word games. But I never was the brightest bulb on the marquis.
