i really do have to thank you, bruce. i'll have to learn quite a bit of java to figure out how to adapt it, but i'm truckin' right along! as it is, i have it so it turns it black for both pages. i have to figure out the }else{ element, and find out how many different if-then sequences i need. pretty challenging!

must say tho, you ROCK!

No worries - though you should make sure you notice my style comment above - if you learn enough javascript you might work out how to force the skin your page displays in

Don't forget though - h2g2 will be turning off javascript support at some stage in the future (probably 30secs after you post "Hey, I got it to work - come & look at my page")

The deal with GuideML Gadgets is that a team of coding specialists (from inside h2g2 & the community possibly) will check gadgets proposed by members of the h2g2 community - drop down lists have already been mentioned as a probable candidate as a Gadget soemwhere in a forum here. I don't know any specific details of when javascript will be turned off or how Gadgets will be submitted assessed etc - but it's very unlikely that h2g2 will turn off javascript before something is in place to get new Gadgets up & running.

I can see why they're doing it though - far to many naughties are possible with javascript - the LoveBug virus was just a script (VBscript rather than javascript - but the possibilites are the same.
