I live in a lovely Main Line suburban town west of Philadelphia. Devon, pronounced De-vin, is home to the annual Devon Horseshow and my condominium complex. I own a charming one-bedroom condo, on the second floor of course, with a courtyard view. While I like where I live and I spend a lot of time here (I work from home), there is a downside to owning a condominium. The latest from the condominium association is a notice ordering everyone with second floor balconies covered in outside carpeting to remove it by April 1, 2000. Have I complied with their request? Of course not. Not because I'm rebelling against the establishment, or because I'm protesting having to have a bare concrete balcony, but because I simply forgot. So Yours Truly will be getting up much earlier tomorrow morning than she would usually to remove the offending green plastic carpeting. It's bad enough that dogs are not allowed on the property (only cats, yechhh!). My boyfriend Paul has a dog. A very cute, eccentric and pettable Shetland Sheepdog named Riley. Regarding the condo dog rule, I can't even remember how many times I've broken that one. The fine for having a dog on condo property is supposed to be $25 a day. Several of the neighbors have sighted Riley while he was visiting with Paul, but I guess none has been brave enough to report this infraction of the rules. Which just goes to show that people, for the most part, don't bother to read the rules.
