Hey, I'm glad you liked the pictures! You got them all, right? Eight, in total. The email must have been *HUGE*! I didn't see how much memory it took, actually, but it might have been close to 400K!

So anyways, what did you want to tell me about Situation Ethics (see previous page of postings)?

So, what do *you* think about Situation Ethics, or about ethics in general? Is it a subject matter you've studied, or are you just interested in it?

I'm studying it at the moment, but not enjoying it. I'm doing RE A-level. Well, AS-level. I onaly took RE for the Philosophy side of it because no colleges around here do a Philosophy course. The Ethics part of it I am not enjoying at all... I guess I just don't see why people have to argue about how they should live lives, I think everyone should just be nice and get on with each other... shame it doesn't work like that.
About Situation Ethics. I think it's bascically a good theory, but kind of a shame it was deveoped into a theory because then people can pick holes in it. And do pick holes in it.

Yeah, I don't really like the idea of attaching a label to my *own* ethics, or trying to put it down in a fixed form. I do think that people can do *more* to try and get along with each other. I don't think they need more *theories* to do that, though ... they need more encouragement to do what they ought to *know* is right, I think.

I don't blame you. The second you start trying to fix them it all goes wrong...
Yes, I agree entirely. I do what I think is right and always have done.

It *can* be useful to talk to people about ethics, though. For instance, I often disagree with things that friends and acquaintances of mine do. Sometimes, for instance, they hurt people without knowing that they did so. I try to bring it to their attention, and I try to persuade them not to do it.

Well, yes! But I also think it is right to talk to other people about what *they* think is right! There's interaction, and an exchange of ideas! For instance, I'm currently trying to persuade some friends of mine not to argue with each other. That is based on my own ethical standard, that sometimes arguing is not good, and my judgement of this situation, that it is the kind of situation in which arguments don't cause any good.

Do you find you're always the person in the middle trying to sort it all out?

Well, nowadays, mostly, yeah. But I *do* sometimes argue with people on my own behalf, when it's about an important matter.

And you? Do you find yourself often between people who argue?

Yep. Pretty much every time there's an argument I'm the one still friends with both sides, and usually trying to sort it all out...
