Well thank you all very much.

The tricky ones took my on average about 2-3 hours to carve. The hardest parts were Jack's mouth / Sally's features on Jack and Sally (I used all my tools for that: scalpels, files and pins) and on the Ack-Ack Alien the Cerebellum and, oddly, his teeth.
But it all worked out. I think I might retire from the esoteric art of Pumpkin Carving, not sure I can improve on this....

You deserve a wider audience for your art, really. Ever considered carving them a few days early and sending the photos to the press?

Tricky. I need an independent supplier for my pumpkins. I gets these 'uns from Tescos and they don't get them in until the week before.
Also these aren't my designs, so I'd need to check what the copyright is for publication.
But I'm not adverse to the idea....

It reminds me, they say that one year, Fermat wanted to carve the proof of a theorem on a pumpkin. Unfortunately he couldn't find one big enough.
