and that's £37 - but that couch offer, would have to be extended by one day they don't run a service on the 1st for some reason.

Not forgotten, I'll sort it out in the morning. Had a horrible night's sleep. Off to go clean my teeth and try again.

I did. I was struck at his recent engagement with Gif, he seemed almost ... reasonable.
Wonder how long that'll last?

I saw. I've just come to your defence. I think Mal's just got her wires crossed.
Specialist knowledge is the sort of thing QI should thrive on.
You're right to call her on it.
But stay. Please.

I can tell you are irritated, and with good reason.
I think Mal will come around, and is being the teensiest bit blockheaed about this.
I've often wondered if I could 'spot' someone using google, I've entertained the fantasy it might be possible, but I don't honestly believe that it is.
Mostly my QIs are so riddle like that actually google isn't of much benefit unless you know what your looking for. A case of evolution by natural selection possibly? the thign I fear is keywords.
Remember by iron jewellery question a while back? I mean that wasn't obvious, it's not the first thign you'd chuck into a search engine - but key words like jewellery, Prussia, Napoleon - and you might have got a hit, and that is what I would class as just cheating.
Which is why i say no google or wiki.
I really struggle to see what the problem is with someone reaching over their should and taking off the shelf - Unusual items of finery in 1800s Europe: a collector's guide." and finding the answer, I'm trying to so desperately to hide.
there's no way i can guard against that - and similarly there's no sensible way to guard against where you spent your time on duty, and hey might know a little bit about some places.
I think Mal is wrong about this specifically and wrong about referencing in general, and I've said so. QI is essentially a honours system, I don't see how that can fundamentally change and I can live with that.
Mal seems to be a bit hung up on people deducing the answer solely from the parameters of the question; and I sympathise, I do, but you cannot guard nor control what people bring to to the table when they reply (many a QI of mine has been picked off cos somebody blummin well knew the answer!) but I don'tthink she sees that.
Hence why she's banging on about your 'typical' posting style.
Nonsense on stilts.
So like i said try to maintain some good humour about it and just gently persuade Mal that she's wrong.

In Pennsylvania, there is a small rural hamlet called "intercourse"
Way back when it meant "crossroads" or "meeting point"
Today they have to nail the road signs to the wall, to stop tourists stealing them
