Welcome Greying, to the wondrous site that is h2g2. smiley - smiley

Well now let's see and try taking those things in order...

Shortly on your personal space an Assistant Community Editor should appear and give you their introduction to the site - consider them your touchstone for friendly advice or support as and whenever you need it. smiley - smiley

Where to start: I see you've added to your introduction already - excellent. Your personal space is YOURS do with it as you will. Try telling us a little about yourself so we can all get to know you a bit better or as I've done create a persona and craft that how you wish.

For instance why did you choose 'greying' as a name? Are you a fan of hitchikers guide? What are you interests and hobbies. Do you write or paint for instance?

This can be a great way of making friends since people do wander by and look at what people have on their Personal Space and if there's not much there, well, we all like an enigma but a brief bio will help. smiley - winkeye

My persona is Clive the flying Ostrich (not my real name nor species smiley - winkeye) so there is no obligation for you to be you, if you see what I mean and as you come to explore h2g2 more, you'll find plenty examples of both people who are literally themselves on-line and people who are more...flamboyant and craft alter-egos. smiley - winkeye

Where to go:

Ask h2g2 is one of the most popular pages where questions are asked and answers sought: A148907 Just wander in and get started. We don't stand much on airs and graces here. Better yet, announce that you're new here and you'll have people positively tripping over themselves to come and be nice to you smiley - winkeye

To tax you grey-matter a little, why not try the games room: A4167605

You might even try asking ' how do I get friends ' on the How Do I page: <./>HowDoI</.>

I heartily recommend reading The Post smiley - thepost - h2g2 regular newspaper with articles and content made by researchers - I currently have a story published there fortnightly. <./>thepost</.>
If your feeling especially creative, put fingers to keyboard and get published! smiley - winkeye

h2g2 is also called 'The Guide' and aside from all the fun community stuff, we do occasionally try to produce articles to enter the definitive Guide (sort of like wikipedia, except we pre-date them, we have better parties smiley - diva and the community peer reviews entries rather than having a general edit button) PeerReview - This is a very popular past time of a lot of researchers: peer reviewing articles for the community. Get stuck into this and you'll not be far short of friends or stuff to do! smiley - winkeye

To get a flavour of the kinds of articles the community has produced over the years, depress the button marked "Infinite Improbability Drive" more colloquially known as <./>randomeditedentry</.> and keep pressing 'refresh' smiley - bigeyes

I, myself, spend most of my time on h2g2 on a little hobby of my own creation the ever-expanding "Campaign to re-name Thursday, 'Thing!'"
adherents call themselves 'Thingites' - and I am their commander in chief. smiley - biggrin 500 plus researchers so far march under this banner, and I'll happily take your subscription if you are interested.

I think that should keep you busy. smiley - smiley

Thanks for visiting MY space. smiley - biggrin Hope I was of some help.

Clive.
