I don't think sporks are the same kind of issue as Thursdays.
Sporks actually do exist as eating utensils in the real world, while Thingism is limited to H2G2. As for any symbolism that sporks might have, Freud might have said "sometimes a spork is just a spork" if sporks had existed during his lifetime.....
