You are the judge. Compare Stephen Colbert, A Late Show, to what happened a day later.
Watch all of it but from 11:00 in particular:

The country must move on and put Trump and his regime into the "out box." Trump had an edge as a presidential candidate because there was hardly anyone who didn't know who he was. And, he had a chameleonic quality over the years. He had been photographed with the Clintons, and thy seemed to be enjoying his company in the photo. A sociopath can do that: act as if he is having normal emotions, while actually feeling nothing. It's only in unscripted moments, when everyone else is feeling genuine emotions, but the sociopath stands out by not reacting likewise.

Trump has already said he regretted making that video on thursday, the one they complained about in your second link, where he disavows the violence and proclaims he will aid in a peaceful transition of power to the Biden administration. I don't think he went even a full 24 hours before reverting back to his delusional narcissism.

Pierce, I would have looked at that link you gave, but there was a message in what looked like Danish. I don't want to agree to something that's in a language I don't understand.

Can you summarize what's in the link, in English? smiley - smiley

That site is location limited.

But surely, paulh, you've heard of Alex Jones and his Infowars crap. He's a vile conspiracy theorist. He was found guilty and had to make restitution to the families of Sandy Hook victims because of his promotion of the disgusting conspiracy theory that the murder spree was fake and the victims families and the survivors at the shooting were "crisis actors".

Apparently he's claiming he paid for a pre riot, pro trump rally.

I don't get that message so can't tell you what it says, paulh, but the Baron is probably right in assuming it's something about not being able to watch it in the US.

Heh... I tried to find articles on the BBC website first as I knew the BBC website would be accessible everywhere (although they're annoying me a bit now as I can't go directly to the co.uk version as it now automatically redirects to com). However, when I searched the BBC website all I saw was a pleasant and cheerful looking brunette woman who apparently hosts something called "The One Show". And while I can access the BBC website from Texas, I can't view programmes on the iPlayer from here so I don't know what The One Show is exactly.

If you're not fussy as to which episodes you see, you can access the december 11 and 15 (2020) episodes of "The One Show" on youtube.

So Trump is facing a second impeachment and while it is unclear if he will be convicted by the Senate it seems reasonable to conclude that Mitch McConnel will see to it that Trump's being banned from ever holding any federal public office again - thus handing back the GOP to McConnel.
I think.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Meanwhile a number of Trump's friends and business partners are abandoning the sinking rat. First and foremost the extremely powerful Deutsche Bank whom he owes 300 million dollars. Two other banks, the city of New York, the American Golf Association P.G.A. and companies like Coca-Cola, Marriott, AT&T, Walmart, General Motors and the Danish big pharma group Novo Nordisk is no longer supporting the GOP. I'm guessing they will return once Trump is out but what do I know?
Not all of the above is officially confirmed by the way. But I have no reason to doubt the sources New York Times quotes.

On this background it is interesting to read this highlight from todays editorial in Information, Denmarks equivalent to The Guardian and The Washington Post:
"The federal lawsuit against Trump is a bad case for the United States and a bad idea for the Democrats.
It is not a defense of the Constitution to abuse it to punish a president who is already on his way out, and it is not a liberation from the struggle that has long helped to block American politics. It's an obsession." [Rune Lykkeberg, editor-in-chief]

Got any comments?

Of all the possible outcomes, I think the banning of Trump from future public office is the most productive.

Does McConnell really care that much about holding onto power within his party? I don't know.

I'm neutral on impeaching Trump a second time. He's still in the White House. He can't use/abuse Twitter. Facebook may be gone too. He can only sit and stew in he late hours of the night. Whop is he going to call on the phone, given that most reasonable people need to get enough sleep?
