Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Dec 16, 2012
I know it was a great loss to a lot of people when my father died at 53. Had he lived a full life of 80 or maybe even 90 years I know he would have w*rked till his last minute. He was like that. So there were at least 27 years of valuable w*rk lost
But I am not my father and I am okay with that. I have a different kind of w*rk and lots of others can do it

Now you'll have the time to design a state-of-the-art pirate ship, after which you'll write a best-selling book telling how you did it.

That's a good one, paul!
Maybe you can measure your indispensableness the Chinese way? Put a finger in a bucket of water, pull it up again and then measure the diameter of the hole it left?

Trust me, by the time you've been retired a few months, you will think of ways to tweak it so as to make it better.

Maybe. But by then it will be glorious spring and I will probably spend most of my time gardening - or drinking in my outdoor recliner

Go ahead and enjoy gardening and reclining and drinking [in that exact order ]. You don't have to follow my suggestions. Unless you want to.....

You have every right to have an angle.

The right angle will give you the best perspective
unless - er - unless it's the left angle, of course

My life is not nearly as interesting as most of my story ideas. I'm currently working on attack by rancid zombie petunias which must be held at bay with extra-long frozen fish sticks from the freezer. [One works with what is at hand]

I'm told some of the greatest writers seemed to live very dull lives and didn't make good dinner partners either
Mark Twain is said to have been a noteable exception. Could have been fun to dine with him, preferably in his own home

Nietzsche doesn't seem to have gotten invited to many parties. He had some mental problems that must have restricted the amount of work he could get done.

Lol, just thinking of having Nietsche as a dinner partner makes me
Nietzsche: God is dead!
Me: Funny you should mention it, she just told me that very soon you will be too - and for a very long time
