One of my granddads got it wrong all the time; he wanted a girl but got 13 boys.
He was a smiley - borg man, if a neighbor upset him he would send the boys round, and if he went round they ended up in hospital. smiley - injured
He made me clean the chimney, from the inside with the fire on. smiley - ill

and flushed puppies down the toilet.

He was a nasty man.

Both my grandmothers had four boys and tried for a girl one last time. One of them succeeded and gave birth to my mother. The other was stuck with yet another boy - my father. smiley - biggrin

For some of us, pushing our luck is about all the exercise we get, unless you count jumping to conclusions and running on empty.

I know that you like to go on bicycle trips when the weather is nice. Do you go skiing at all in the Danish Alps?

Good plan, Pierce.

PAL, I appreciate your memories. I remember lots of great things, though most of them were probably dreams. The interviews with Thomas Jefferson and george Washington were probably in that category.

Mmm, methinks it is a bit of a challenge.

I never interviewed George or Jeff but had teasmiley - tea with them, until I got tired and went for my nap. smiley - sigh

Last night I dreamed about Marilyn Monroe. She was telling me what it was like to work for the Mayor of New York for seven years. The thing is, a new mayor (Donald Trump) was voted in during that period, and he kept her on the payroll out of sympathy for her. She referred to him as an "elf child."

For the record, the actual Marilyn Monroe did not work for the mayor of New York, nor was Donald Trump ever the mayor.

Visited a friend in the hospital last night, had a stroke 24 Dec. 2011 which I didn't find about until until Sunday the 1st, then was tied up with preexisting commitments to my Mom, still recovering from her stroke of last May, until Jan. 4th.

My friend was somewhat haggard, lucid and somewhat guarded in her remarks.

I had had problems like that, just shy of requiring extensive hospitalization, back in my 28th year, a (very) small stroke that left me temporarily paralyzed on my left side and put a permanent crease in the left side of my face which has finally disappeared the last two years.

I'm sorry to hear about all the strokes in your gamily and circle of friends. My mother has had several small strokes. The one that caused the most damage made it hard for her to swallow normally, so she needs to have all her beverages thickened so they go down more easily.

People who are old enough to be at high risk of strokes are routinely kept on Coumadin. My mother took Coumadin, but they stopped it when she began vomiting blood.

Cor; I had a mild stroke after I was run over. I was doing a favour for the company by taking a trailer up the road to be unloaded when as I was opening the curtains I saw curtains.

It was most uncomfortable, and turned me from a no smokin no drinkin nice chap, into somebody completely different.

Strokes are completely different to heart attacks; a heart attack is a bit like indigestion, but a stroke leaves you paralized and weak, I momentarily lost the use of my arm and leg on my left side.

A very unpleasant experience that lasted for years; I even used to hear voices and see things, and I obviously wasn't the full shilling.

Still arn't better cos the memory and processing power has gone; time a dinkies smiley - pggbsmiley - pirate

Mistadrong, (Count vonCount.)the last Gog standing

Strokes are really nasty things, my mentor had one when I was an apprentice.
He recovered eventually but the left side of his face took a long time
to unfreeze.
My mother suffered from those transient ischemic attacks which affected
her sight mostly. Not severe but very unpleasant.
I often think that it's a good job we don't know what's ahead of us.
