A pirate's xmas and new years

Galileo had some friends who smuggled his manuscripts across the Alps and had them published in the Netherlands. As it happens, there were a few scientific errors in his findings, but these have now been ascribed to his poor eyesight. He was honest to a fault. He faithfully described what he saw through his telescope, even if his own vision distorted it somewhat. As for the Church's punishment of him, he went through a really nasty ordeal, despite insisting that he was totally faithful to the Church.
The Church finally called off its ban on his writings in the early 1800s. This was a few centuries too late, but it did amount to an admission that they made a huge error. The Church will eventually get the child sex abuse scandal under control, though more quickly (one hopes) than in the Galileo incident. The Church moves slowly. That's just their nature. The downside is that a lot ogf damage can be done (to the victims and to the Church itself) because of this slowness.

I rarely eat pizza at pizza restaurants, because one slice costs too much, and getting a whole pizza presents me with more than I can eat. So I go to a buffet-style restaurant, which has decent pizza. I went there yesterday and had my customary one slice of pizza, plus lots of other good things.
