...then again, the La Brea tar pits in late ice age conditions, the sticky deposits of mixed asphalt and naptha all around the danger area wouldn't have been as sticky and as a matter of fact might have supported the weight of even rather large animals well into the danger area...

Well, it doesn't make any sense t me. If you're going to take a time machine back to the filming of a famous movie, you should at least arrange to be in a scene that won't be cut from the final movie.
