Lanzababy - Guide Editor

It's exactly a year since I wrote in my journal. So, bear with me while I juggle some brain cells.

Today, I am battling with insomnia. I woke at 5.55 am which is a step forward from the 1, 2 and 3am wakenings recently. But now awake, I think I should get the coffee brewing, and do a quick bit of cleaning before finding something more interesting to do for the rest of the day.
Yesterday was really grey here to start with. You can see the view I had when I opened the curtains -

This is a bad photo, taken with the Samsung tablet camera. My own camera has become parted with its photo card... long story. But if you want a tablet mainly for the camera aspect, do not choose the Samsung Galaxy.

It's just got here light now, so I'm off to find out what today looks like.

See you later!

I'm always amused by the sight of people talking photos with tablets. It just looks really odd. Like Moses holding up the Ten Commandments or something. smiley - biggrin

Gnomon - time to move on

Even stranger than someone taking a photo with a tablet is someone using it as a phone.

Will those clouds burst and produce a downpour? I seem to remember it raining very slightly on our last day in Lanzarote (which was in November). Do the farmers pray for rain?

You can call me TC

I agree about Samsung. Never again. (I think I wrote about my Samsung mobile phone at length in last years NaJoPoMo).

Is November not a good time to visit Lanzarote then?

Seeing the sail on your photograph reminds me how I was joking about not being able to go kite surfing during our recent storm because the driver wouldn't allow the kite on his smiley - bus

The following day it turned out that the storm had actually been the worst ever recorded in Denmark! smiley - yikes

And another day later I was reading about a wind surfer who had actually been out surfing in the North Sea during that dreadful storm. This crazy chap went out alone without anybody knowing about it! But he lived to tell his tale of the adrenaline rush keeping him warm when he screamed and hollered and almost flew over the waves smiley - wow

Deb

Well, I can't feel sorry for you, Lanza, opening the curtains to that grey day - what a view!

But insomnia must be awful. I don't generally have a problem with sleep and on the very odd night when I can't sleep I don't tend to stress about it, just lie there thinking (I like to design & decorate my perfect home, an ever changing feast!) but that's probably easy to do if it's not a problem.

Wishing you a good night's sleep!

Deb smiley - cheerup

Insomnia is pretty nasty. I never drink coffee after 3:00 p.m. Of of the prescriptions I take has the effect of making me drowsy, so I usually get enough sleep. Trouble is, I'm wired so that I don't function well without eight hours of sleep every night. I envy people who seem to need less. I think of all the extra things I could be doing with more awake time. smiley - sadface

Its often teh 'quality' of the sleep too, as much as the mere quantity... I often dont' get eitehr quantity or quality.... smiley - sleepy often takes two hours to fall asleep, even wehn I am very tired, and then often I sleep so shallowly I'm aware of, and can recall things which happen when I'm asleep (lorry outside delivering newspapers to the shop, milk float, people screaming/shouting during the night, other sounds etc from inside or outside the house) smiley - weirdsmiley - sleepy I always think one problem is that 24 hours is the wrong length fpor a day, which doesn't tie in with ones body-clock view of a day length smiley - huhsmiley - sleepy
Must have missed this journal yesterday smiley - dohsmiley - weird

I have read about people who have tried to live in caves deep underground for longer periods. I understand they tend to stay awake longer and sleep longer than the rest of us smiley - weird

yeh... I'm sure I get an affect from lack of sunlight (or my bodys inability to realise there is* any* sunlight)... I think its partially the... err... pineal gland? and partially I think soemthing to do with certain receptors in the retina, which help the body regulate body-clock stuff, on the basis of daylight etc... smiley - weird maybe I culd try soem of those fancy daylight lighting things... though not sure it'd work for me that* well smiley - laugh
