I think i need something to take my mind off Bucks Fizz - of any variety !!!
Happy Birthday!
Gwennie Posted Oct 25, 2000
Sorry about my absence chaps! It's half term here at the moment and I'm still managing to slip out to college and the Red Cross shop in between all too short spells of playing on h2g2.
Err...Why Bucks Fizz, Linus?
*Suddenly notices that she now has a Bucks Fizz song bouncing around the empty, but small confines of her mind and keeps picturing girls having their short skirts ripped off by very strangely dressed men*
Argh!!! It's contagious! Help!
Happy Birthday!
mari-rae(tee reads: (entangled in cardboard boxes, please send tape...) Posted Oct 25, 2000
We call champagne and oj something else over here. I'm trying to remember what...mind's going.
*Opens the fridge and digs out a bottle of Linus's usual brew. Holds it up, questioningly.*
Or would you like something else, Linus?
Gwennie, you're humming to yourself! Put on some music if you'd like.
Happy Birthday!
Gwennie Posted Oct 25, 2000
*Sits in the corner with an insane vacant grin on her face and staring into space*
Did someone mention alcohol?
Happy Birthday!
SPINY (aka Ship's Cook) Posted Oct 25, 2000
*surrounded by crumbs and has cream on his spines. The whole spectacle is frankly unedifying*
DE-licious! What's next? What's the lemon pound cake about, Mari-rae?
Hello again Gwennie and Linus. Does alcohol actually NEED to be mentioned, Gwennie, I mean, isn't it just one of life's constants?
Now then, folks, I bring good news. I have awoken the dragon from her slumbers. She won't mind me sharing this with you...
*coff, coff*
GROAAAAAANNN...
*coff, coff*
H2G2...Damogran...my friends and loyal subjects...Spiny? Spiny?? Issat you???
*sob*
That's the good news bit - she's still alive! But then...
"It has been a long struggle: sick computers, erratic h2g2 connections,
unfinished cabins, reluctant contractors, damaged kitchen cabinets,
moving 55 years of 'stuff' 350 miles, relocating family, unending
'things' that need to be finished, unpacking that has not even begun yet.
No, the cabin is NOT finished...
"Every time I tried to get on h2g2 regularly back in May and June it
was taking so long to view messages, that some days I just had to give
up. It was also at the same time I was having various computer
problems, and THEN they changed to the new 'skin' for the site, and
not only did my pages not display properly, but I was having a hard
time finding things, and waiting for conversations to load. I made
changes to my site, or posted messages only to find that they did not
get recorded. It was very frustrating.
"Then we moved...I wont begin to explain all of the things that still
have to be done to the cabin. On top of this, most of my computer
time is taken maintaining the teacher's union site I now webmaster.
So those lovely, leisurely hour or two each morning [and it was
sometimes even more] are sorta a thing of the past.
"I do miss everything, but really dont have time to get involved again
for a while yet.
*sigh*
Damogran...flying castles...friends...someday...."
blu
Ah well....
I know this isn't a Damogran forum, but I thought you'd want to know how Queen bluDragon is, Mari-rae. I'll nip on over to Damogran and post the good news. In the meantime, what's happening with that lemon pound cake...?
Happy Birthday!
Linus...42, i guess that makes me the answer... Posted Oct 25, 2000
I'd never heard of the drink before this forum, what a waste of champagne. As for the band, the less said the better !!!
Usual brew is fine for me thanks
Happy Birthday!
mari-rae(tee reads: (entangled in cardboard boxes, please send tape...) Posted Oct 26, 2000
(! Happy to hear from the Queen, but I'm sorry she doesn't have time for us.)
Ok, I've remembered what champagne and oj is called... a Mimosa!
Gwennie, here is a vodka and tonic. It is nice and large, just the way we like them.
Linus, all I know about your usual is that it is NOT FOSTERS!!!! (underlined)
Happy Birthday!
mari-rae(tee reads: (entangled in cardboard boxes, please send tape...) Posted Oct 26, 2000
*Slices a big piece of the lemon pound cake for Spiny. Thinks he looks pretty cute with cream bespeckling his spines. *
Do you mean to say there is a band called Bucks Fizz?
Happy Birthday!
mari-rae(tee reads: (entangled in cardboard boxes, please send tape...) Posted Oct 26, 2000
*Is startled nearly out of her wits by the large bear suddenly appearing in her kitchen.*
Wait! I remember you! ~snapping her fingers~ Its Kuma, KUMABEAR!!!!
How have you been? Modem working again? Have some cake? Pie? Ice Cream? Brewski?
Meet Spiny! He's a noble hedgehog. You know Linus and Gwennie, of course.
Happy Birthday!
Linus...42, i guess that makes me the answer... Posted Oct 26, 2000
There was a band called bucks fizz - i think they were Englands entry to the eurovision song contest once in the 80s - Gwennie can probably confirm this - basically your classic Abba formation: 2 chicks who did all the singing and 2 blokes. Be thankful you missed them !!!
Never heard of a mimosa either BTW...
Coopers Dark Ale is my beer of choice, although i do drink many other kinds
*phew*
Happy Birthday!
Gwennie Posted Oct 26, 2000
Hi Kumabear, me old furry friend!
*Raises her very large glass of vodka & tonic in greeting*
Spiny - what a shame about the Queen and all the RL problems she's had! At least she's well though, which is good news.
Yes, you're quite right, Linus! The least said, the better. Bucks Fizz were a bunch of Abba wannabes and the UK's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest (which is an annual event that is normally so terrible, it's funny) way back in the 1908's.
*Shakes her head hard in an attempt the erase the memory and takes a deep swig of her drink as her tummy produces a large rumble*
Is there any more of that vegan food please, Mari-Rae?
Happy Birthday!
mari-rae(tee reads: (entangled in cardboard boxes, please send tape...) Posted Oct 26, 2000
*Opens fridge.*
Broccoli Toss salad, there's zucchini I could fry up with tomatoes and serve over pasta, celery sticks and peanut butter, or for that matter I can chop up a lot of fresh veggies and make my own special dill dip. Hmm, do you eat sour cream though. Probably not. I wonder if I could make dill dip with a soya substitute?
Kuma, do you want anything more substantial than the cake to eat?
Brings out Linus's dark ale that miraculously she just happens to have on hand.
Happy Birthday!
SPINY (aka Ship's Cook) Posted Oct 26, 2000
Hey, Kumabear. I recommend the apple pie. But that's only because I haven't tucked into this slab of lemon pound cake - maybe I'll recommend IT even more afterwards.
Yes, Buck's Fizz were indeed our successful entry to the Eurovision Song Contest, but that doesn't mean we're proud of it. It is definitely a name for champagne and orange juice, though. Mimosa is a good one too. Try one to kick-start your breakfast on the morning of a hangover, or serve it, as we do, on Christmas morning with scrambled egg and smoked salmon. (Sorry - said the C-word).
Yes, pity about bluDragon. Damogran has fallen into ruins since her departure, and to think it wsa once one of the busiest forums. Does that make it the first e-ruin?
Happy Birthday!

What's wrong with saying Christmas? I am already worrying about shopping for it. First though, I am worrying about Thanksgiving for which I am cooking for 25 to 30 people.
The lemon pound cake is a favorite recipe.
Happy Birthday!
