She's a friend of a friend... I know 'Smill', as she refers to my friend Camilla. She's been in Uganda all summer (try www.verbalvoodoo.co.uk/milla and you'll read all about it).

Yep, Zobo-Creat is the language all right... interesting stuff. It's very addictive though; I can't stop using 'yoj!'

By the way, the last post was the 100th in our conversation. I hope that makes you proud! smiley - smiley

Wow, Prague!! Much yoj! smiley - smiley

Good for you... though why are you going to Prague? I thought uni was starting again pretty soon. You don't want to miss Fresher's Week, now, do you?

March. That's a hell of a long time for a casual conversation. Still I think we've done pretty well. Let's see if we can make it a year!

I think we can do a year...smiley - smiley

I'm going to Prague to demonstrate with Jubilee 2000- the IMF/World Bank are meeting there, and we're having a protest about third world debt relief...

I won't miss Fresher's week, though, Fresher's Sunday is after I get back...smiley - smiley

Good for you! smiley - smiley

I'm with you in spirit but since my own debt is not insubstantial I'm afraid the only way to get there would be to swim... and since Prague is in a landlocked country I probably wouldn't have much luck!

Good luck to you smiley - smiley

I take it you're back from Prague... but you haven't seen fit to talk to me. smiley - sadface

Hope you had a good time and weren't arrested or shot or anything.

Nice pics. How long did you stay for in the end?
And did you manage to overthrow the tyranny of global capitalism? Do let me know. smiley - smiley

I stayed for five days. smiley - smiley

I haven't yet managed to overthrow global capitalism... but I'm working on it...smiley - winkeye

Great. Sounds like you had a good time, anyway!
Got to go now - 9am lecture. Quantum physics II, no less.
I love my subject... smiley - smiley

*basks in the enjoyment of having Fridays off this year*

We don't do quantum this term, we've got Electronics, thermodynamics (fun fun fun!) Electrons in solids, maths and optics at the moment. Its all so very thrilling...

We had electronics last year, but we have got thermal physics, quantum, mathematical and electromagnetism. I'm also doing a fascinating option module called Digital Electronics and Microprocessors which is rather fun as it involves programming (low-level) a 68000 processor. Which is nice.

I might be going to Canada to study next year!! Or not. smiley - smiley

Oooh exciting!

Microprocessors sounds like something I'd not want to study... I don't like electronics, either. trouble with studying truth tables is that I immediately want to think in them....smiley - bigeyes but then

I don't get any options this year smiley - sadface

Bad luck. I don't get any options in the first semester of next year, but that may be irrelevant because I may be going to Canada to study! It's early days yet but since Nottingham is part of the Universitas 21 group I have the opportunity to study in Toronto next year provided my grades etc. are good enough. smiley - smiley

It would mean leaving behind Becky and all my friends though... smiley - sadface I don't know whether I really want to do it or whether it just sounds like a good idea. Decisions, decisions!

It sounds like a cool thing, a chance to get to know how things work somewhere else, and you'd not really have to deal with a language barrier. I guess it would be difficult to leave your girlfriend, though.... (says she from the happy position of now having a boyfriend) smiley - smiley

Nice one! I just hope he doesn't mind the fact that you spend a lot of time on the internet... smiley - winkeye

I can't believe how hard the work's getting... I've got a project and oral presentation to do in five weeks, starting from next Monday. Do you use LabVIEW at all? I find it quite good fun but tricky in places, especially when writing formal reports about it! If you don't, then it's a graphical based programming language for controlling experiments, which is nice.

Right it's Student Union Council in an hour or so and I'll be there till about 11pm... so talk to you soon!

I don't get to use labview (yet?) at the moment my computer time seems to be spent vainly trying to program in Fortran. fun fun fun...smiley - smiley

& he spends plenty of time online too, so its okay smiley - smiley

Fortran, eh? All the chemists in our university use that, and I assume we'll get to use it too at some point. Apparently LabVIEW is what professional physicisty type people use to run their experiments and stuff, but then so is Fortran I guess.

Glad you and bloke are so compatible! smiley - smiley

Fortran is irritating smiley - smiley But I know of a research student in York who gets to use Fortran...smiley - smiley So it must be useful. IT must be... no really, its not just annoying...

So, all change at h2g2 then. But since I never use it other than to talk to you, smiley - smiley I can't say I've noticed much difference except perhaps that the smiley faces have become smilier and there's a strange looking molecule type thing at the top of the messageboards. Still I'm sure there's a reason!

Down to hard work today as I've got two projects to do (electronics and LabVIEW), plus another test in just over a week. smiley - sadface Let the good times roll, eh?
