Many "years" ago, not much longer than I became a single parent.
A countries denomination became that low, that for 11 pound 50p Stirling!
I could have exchanged that amount for 1 million of that "money".

I could have bragged about being the poorest millionaire in england

Alas though that 11+ quid was needed to be spent on my 2 kids

I'm STILL skint today = my day will come but in which century ???

10pm here - first snowfall of "winter" - ground covered and it's more than the last 2 years put together

Wow! It was sunny here today - but it's supposed to snow later in the week. (I'm planning my shopping trip for Wednesday.)

As "we" don't have the snowfalls of the 60's/70's any more, no one is "attuned" to driving etc in those era's

It's not a problem here - snow is part of life. Although my sister said today it was hard to believe it was supposed to snow - we've had such a warm fall. And she sent me a photo of a rose blooming in her yard. Yesterday!

Somebody else in the prairie said they had flowers in bloom, too. So yeah, it's a surprise. But we usually get snow around Thanksgiving.

I was glad my sister dropped by today - we needed help.

The light bulbs burned out in the kitchen (overhead). Too tall to reach.

I bought a stepladder.

Put it together.

Climbed up stepladder.

STILL couldn't reach.

Just then, doorbell rang. Sis is a couple of inches taller. We got the bulbs changed.

WE! Had that in the 60's/70's

NOW it's more towards I've slipped on ice etc and I'm suing etc, or kids in the playground at school hurting themselves

In my junior school yearsthe playground was covered in slides as all "we" wanted to do was "have fun"

Well, what I meant was 'HERE it's a way of life.'

In the South, it's an anomalous occurrence that causes massive panic. One inch and life stops until the horrid stuff goes away.

Gloomy, grey day today, but no snow yet. I spent part of it talking to Robbie. He said they had some snow in London.

"we've" got more snow due ? Usual panic! snow etc NOT common in recent years, so "play safe" and shutdown schools etc so no claims etc

Are the roads not clear? That's usually a good reason for closings.

That's one reason it's easier to stay home - in the South, all the snow-moving equipment is in the mountains.

In my youth, school playtimes were fun in snow

But nowadays it's my child slipped etc and the "usual" what can I/We claim culture

IE: I've caught a cold! Therefore it's someone else's fault! Can I sue for being off work etc ?
