Reminds me of the 'old' days, when 2 devices wanted the same COM ports. You'd think that with all the options for connections now, IP calls being of so many digits, that the chances of 2 calling exactly the same port and such would be like winning a lottery twice. Infinitesimal ... And yet it is such a common occurrence.

I think a lot of amateurs are buying exactly the same "Dummy's Guide to Programming for ..."

My first 'slot' when the Air Force brought me to this town was as the supervisor and buyer for the PC side of the base. One thing I learned (by the seat of the pants) was that M$ had one consistency ... their inconsistency. A feature that may work just so this time, will not do the same in an hour. The same goes for the operating systems. A tweak on this box, this OS, will NOT do the same on another box, same OS.

Damn, but I liked IBM's OS/2 ... It worked, did as the tin said, and I never crashed it once. Reguardless of how crude I got with the inner trimmings.

Regarding email contact, with no disrespect intended what so ever, after spending a few days, reading some of your threads, plus others you are involved in and the altercations therein on sides, yours and the other person/s. I’ve come to the conclusion that you seem to have a load of emotional baggage against folk in general. Whether just on hootoo, or in real life as well. Those I have email contact with, I do not get involved in any dispute they may have with any other person/s on hootoo, as in most cases, I talk to both parties on hootoo as friends. As some of those threads include people I talk to regular and some I have actually met. I sense that this could be just for probing information or even trying to turn me away from certain hootoo’ers. I therefore decline your offer Nick.
As stated, this is in no disrespect to you and I will continue to chat with you on hootoo, if you wish to, or not, which is your prerogative to do so, of course.

Equal arguments I do keep out of, but as below, a journal entry of mine, states how I define a friend and if I think a friend is being intimidated and or verbal abused, for no rational reason, then I will support that friend and one of my philosophies, is everybody is my friend, until they themselves prove different


One who stands by your side, through thick and thin--good and bad times, as you go forward in life?
But to stand in front of you, if they think it will lead to danger or that you are wrong in going forward at that time, again a dangerous move.
At anytime, will give advice, but! not order it done.
Will have a shoulder standing by, should you fall or need a rest.
To have the energy to lift your spirits, should you falter in your stride.
To be a companion, when others desert if the going gets harder.
To be your shadow, even when the sun does not shine.
Then while doing all that, will watch you back 24/7, so no harm can sneak up on you.
And in the end, a true friend asks for nothing in return, except the hand of friendship.
Carrying out this definition can also lose friends, but a true friend must follow this path, no matter what the cost, or can not be called a friend in the end.
There are many more sub parts to this definition and a life time it takes, to find but a few.
The reason it took a while to come up with this definition, is that it is mine and not out of a book, it is who I am and what I shall always be.

I can only guess that it was a very limited number of threads you have looked at, or you might have seen that I get on very well with an amazing variety of really good and interesting people here. Just as I do in the real world. But that's okay, simple text on a screen has oft been cause for seriously incorrect interpretations, eh?

In any case, what the e-mail would have tried to convey was ... I quite enjoy chatting with you, but it seems to not be a good idea. An attempt to strike up a friendship with another here only just recently caused another flare-up of concerns that I have tried to leave well buried. I have my own PY(s) apparently, and that doesn't seem likely to change. So to try to keep life simpler for everyone, I was going to quietly suggest that we let this thread lie where it is, and enjoy each others company in other journals and threads where our paths may cross.

And so I shall do just that, unsubscribe from here and offer you friendship as and where we happen to meet. Cheers, mate.

as to yiksing, I personally, have only ever yiked 1 person/post and that was my own - I'd copied/pasted something, but hadn't proof read it correctly and found a word I did not like (f)etc, so got it removed.
I know hootoo is open threads, but sometimes the cut and thrust seen, can be quite amusing at times

No1. The poem in the front page is of no one in particular, as it says! every street has one. If Nick thinks it is about him, then I can only say, he is either a sad person and wants to get a life, or he has a guilty conscience. Either way! I do not like receiving e-mail in my private address, unless it's from persons I have given it to and it is not for anyone to pass on, unless I have given permission to do so.

You might wish to ammend your tag, as apparently no "PY" struck you down. As I heard from TPTB, my input to them (tried to ammend my PS, got the same 'moderated' thing that you and 5 or 6 others had) mine was the 3rd report. And so they tested, proved it, and posted the alert. You, as I and a number of others, were just the victims of a quirk of software. Though it is, no doubt, fun to presume there is a nefarious Phantom out there.

I know that I am personae non gratae in some circles, and dearly wish it was otherwise. But tales have been told, truths established, and life goes on. Cheers and a good time to you, sir. I will now leave you again, not wanting to be too much of an unwelcome intrusion.
