I wrote to the PM in early 2000 because I'd noticed that they'd given 1998 honours in the new year's list. I suggested that they give posthumous knighthoods to Kipling and Lennon (for penning Britain's favourite poem and song, respectively) so that there would be 2000 honours in the 'millenium' list. I got a letter back from the honours department or somesuch saying that they couldn't give that type of honour. Surely they could have come up with two people that they *could* have given honours to?
Ho hum. I was amazed and pleased that they bothered to write back.
