I was thinking about Bluebottle's point about saints and the text that is written. Going to heaven is a reverse logic. Instead: they are people who lived out some eternally true characteristic of heaven on earth.
That is why, in icons, they are always drawn in such a way that their key God-insight is always shown the same way. Martyrdom is often an outcome but not a per-requisite.
The papal canonisation thing is quite new and very Roman (therefore not really important to the Constantinoplians).

This is now back in Peer Review at F48874?thread=8315293. Please post any further comments over there rather than here.

Yes. I became disillusioned with this website when one of my entries took over a year from the time it was picked to the time it appeared on the front page. And when I offered to become a sub-editor again to move things along more quickly, I received no reply so after 6 weeks I withdrew my offer, and withdrew from the editing process.
I've been persuaded since then that there is no harm in throwing my entries into Peer Review and if they eventually get published, even if it is a year down the road, it is a gain for me, and there's nothing to lose. So I'm doing that.

I am with you - not that I have anything in PR at the moment (at least I don't think I do).
I promised Bluebottle an entry a few years' ago and feel a bit guilty about not writing it. But nothing about the Edited Guide appears to be urgent right now.
PS: Scouts - have you considered picking this entry and publishing it? It is quite good.
