Tuning-fork is hyphenated, according to the OED.
Sentence 2 (What other reference...) is a bit clumsy. I'd split it up. If you want it to be a question then use a question mark
<...you will probably have used one of these forks...> Is "you would ..." better?
I don't think you should capitalise "court".
Does it? I don't understand this bit.
Is it worth defining "temperament" and "intonation"? You link to Recumbentman's entry on the subject, but that one's way over my head.

An A at 422.5Hz is 70% of a semitone flatter than today's standard of A = 440Hz.

Ye gods, so it is I hadn't realised that, but it's obvious grammatically why it should be. Good catch

I'm going to disagree with you on this one Icy

That's the problem with writing two entries at the same time. You miss critical bits out from one that are in the other. Done

I'm not sure how you could define these terms without getting very technical as Recumbentman has done. I've added it to the section for those interested enough to follow it through.
Thanks Icy

Thanks h5. We'll have to agree to disagree on that subjunctive (to be honest, I'm never sure what it should be)
