A Conversation for Affirmation and prayer - a common process
A744464 - Affirmation and prayer - a common process

Hi
I have made some minor tweaks and put in a couple of paragraphs about emotion and expectations.
I haven't put in any internal links, but there should definitely be links to Zarq's entries on Mindfulness and on Yoga Nidra.
Re: External Links - I dislike the work of Anthony Robbins, which seems to be aimed at enabling you to be more like Anthony Robbins. I much prefer the work of Brian Tracy which is an amazing mix of the mental the emotional and the spiritual. ANd I am a big fan of the work of Richard Bandler, which is challenging and which can seem threatening, but which oes have the aim of providing you with more choices, and with the freedom to take them.
I guess there are so many self-help gurus out there, and so many of them are so flaky, that it is best not to try to pick people to link to.
Thanks for the suggestions, guys. So far as I am concerned it is as good as it will get.

I did a firewalk, but not with Anthony Robbins - I did mine with Stuart Wilde at the Commonwealth Institute about eight years ago.
I completely agree with you about AR, mind you; something about him completely turns me off. Bandler on the other hand is fascinating. More of an enigma. And yes, I like Brian Tracy also.
I also like Denise Linn and Sonia Choquette, who is a psychic and believes we can all develop our psychic natures. I've been able to manifest parking spaces for about 15 years. Imagine that you'll find one (often in a particular place) and bingo - there you are. My dad thinks I'm jammy!

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Down into the depths, to appear again in the distant future unless it falls through a wormhole in the fabric of space. Hope to see the edited version soon!

Just out of curiosity...

Hi, Ben.
Just out of curiosity, what *are* your particular beliefs, if that isn't too personal a question? (I promise not to try and convert you to another sort once you say. I'm just wondering.)
I must say that I enjoyed your article very much and I agree that prayer and meditation can be very calming and reassuring. Prayer is how I unload the days worries onto God so that I can get some sleep! (That is, unless I spend the whole night lost in articles like this one on H2G2!)
I must confess that, because I am a Christian, and I think that it *does* matter what you believe, but I respect your opinion. And I know that a lot of lives have been improved by prayer and meditation outside of the Christian religion.
I must ask: How can you truely hold your beliefs as "truth" if you regard them as seperate from reality. Ex: If you are a Christian, than it means that your belief is that Christ's miracles, etc. happened in reality and there for, are either true or false. I'm not saying that if the thing one believes in is, ultimately, false, then it will effect one's ability to benefit from prayer and meditation. But if you *don't* think of your beliefs as being true, then in what context do you believe? Or is it an intellectual decision to act as if you believe it when really, you think it is inconsequential?
I'd love to hear your answers! Your article was interesting, well-written, and it makes you think! (The last quality being the one I appreciate most in an article!)
Reply if you can!
