I don't know how many survived the last sign-on transition, but I was really hoping someone else would do that update. If not I am going to at least wait until the 2010 census results come in to tackle it.

Boy, Lanz!, that entry on Lansing, MI USA does need some freshening!

A quick Google search tells me that it doesn't actually have the nickname 'The Lake State', not even in 1999

The nickname is 'The Great Lake State' after the lakes surrounding much of it that are referred to as 'The Great Lakes'. They are of a pretty good size!

Then there's the State of Minnesota, 'The Land of 1000 Lakes'. Even if their tiny, I'd have to say that they would be way ahead in contention for the nickname 'The Lake State'!!

I am sure Ford's towel means the state entry not the Lansing entry.
A600526 never calls it the Lakes state. A quick note in EF could probably get that switched on A143849. I will put request in for us.
Just a note the Lansing entry just had a line added last week. Can you guess what it was

I notice Danny B has already changed the nickname.
It was less than a half-hour after I mentioned it.

Boo! Hey peeps, we're back. Sorry it's been taking such an inordinately long time for us to pick up Entries. We've been flat out on the redesign work these last few weeks, shoulder to the wheel, nose to the grindstone, etc. But we're hoping that near to normal service will resume now.

Someone once asked what Michiganders do with their leisure time.
This varies by individual. In addition to the Sports shown in the article there will be a sports festival the end of June called the
Meijer State Games of Michigan.
Held in 2010 the 25-27th of June they hope to make it an annual Olympic style event.
